I literally just bought a rp3+ back in October this is actually kind of infuriating. I'm checking Facebook marketplace to see if I can sell this shit, but it looks like lots of people already have the same idea and are trying to pawn off their system.

Talk of the Pocket 4/4+ dropping has been a thing since August, anon. You really have no on to be upset with but yourself. Either buy the device you want, or be patient and wait. You only did this to yourself, and anyone in the market will not be interested in a second-hand RP3+ at this point unless you sell it for like $50.
I recommend you find a way to kill your FOMO tendencies and just enjoy the RP3+ you have.

I AM ABSOLUTELY IN LOVE WITH MY WALL-E (ANBERNIC RG280V)

Seriously this thing is everything my Highschool GBA SP was, and then so much more... the GBA was incredibly back then for being a portable SNES basically, now I have a gorgeous portable PSX backwards emulator, and it feels heavy, premium built.. it just.. it feels like something NINTENDO themselves could have built for a 1000 Units Only prize for some Japanese Exclusive Club or something.. very premium for a portable videogame toy.

Finally got the old RG35XX for $40. Honestly, if I’d gotten this instead of the Miyoo Mini, I probably wouldn’t have fallen down the chinkheld rabbit hole buying shit like the RP2S and the RGB30. I literally only play Pokemon on these things, and for that, the fast-forward function’s a lot faster than on the Miyoo, and the curved shoulder buttons make it pretty easy to play with one hand when you’re using the “L = A” setting.

The only downside I noticed is that installing themes is a pain, since you can only have one at a time and have to overwrite everything each time through an SD card reader, since there’s no way to do it in the system like with the Miyoo.

Jeez... that really sucks, anon. I guess the Razer Kishi V2 is the closest controller to it, but I recall you wanted Razer to go fuck themselves after it screwed over the Kishi V1, so they're not a good option either... a contoller I can think that clearly copies the Backbone One is the BSP-D6, but it's a cheap controller, so I'm not sure if it'd be good in the long run... I'd say just return it and leave it be.

I suppose it's best to just stay with the GameSir X2 only, but if you want a new one, GameSir also made a new one that seems to be getting a good reception, the G8, look it up and see if you like it.

On my end, I'm still on my MOCUTE-060 and so far it's still working, I feel like getting a backup one just in case this one fails, so I can have one immediately instead of waiting for it to arrive in the mail after another purchase, but for now it doesn't seem necessary, it's been solid for me even if it feels cheap in the hands. I managed to beat The Amazing Spider-Man 2 on Game Boy today using this setup, felt quite good, it's a Spider-Man MetroidVania of all things... and it's surprising to me how much I enjoyed playing it, even if it gets a bit cryptic at times to be fair...

Well, I've only used the MOCUTE-060 before, so far my experience has been decent for a cheap controller, but it still feels cheap, even if it's all still working for now, so if you want something with a better feel this isn't what I'd recommend, the ones most people seem to agree are more premium are the Backbone One, and the Razer Kishi V2, also GameSir X2 and GameSir G8 too.

Still, it's a gamble, this anon (>>10515072) had some really awful luck so far with the Backbone One, so even with these it's not 100% certain. I'd say check reviews online to get a broader view.

Well, it's a situation where I sort of have to pick my poison really... let me explain, I'm using this current setup, instead of a dedicated handheld, because I had an old smartphone I still wanted some use for, and I found a decent looking pad for cheap, it ended up being way cheaper than getting an actual handheld, but the screen is a 19.5:9 aspect ratio, instead of 4:3 or 1:1 (Ideal).

Now, what that means is that, if I use a 1:1 or a 4:3 aspect ration, I'm going to have a 25cm wide device with about 5cm of actual screen, most of the screen will be negative space and it's awful...

So, instead of going with 1:1 I tried 4:3 and it still looked off and had mostly negative space, so I just gave up and stretched it full, but the round corners bothered me... so I finally just went with a 16:9 stretched aspect ratio, it doesn't bother me as much as having 90% of the device being negative space, even though it isn't ideal, it still works well enough for me, even if it's a real sin.

I really love them, when I was a kid I used to play with girls' dolls only, one day my grandpa got sick of it, since he was a more traditional man afterall, and took me to a store, told me to pick a boy's action figure, whatever I wanted, and I got Spider-Man, a figure I played with so much that I can't even make it stand still for a picture, it's so used up at this point, because I loved it so much.

I'd eventually become a huge fan of Spider-Man and get more bootleg toys like these ones, I find them to be quite charming compared to official ones, and I'm glad I had so many growing up too.

P.S. Here's a photo with the OG that my good old grandpa got for me as a kid, it's the only gift I've got left from him, sitting in front of the handheld since he's elderly at this point, but I still love it.

CRT shaders, crt-gdv-mini for 2D games, crt-1tap for 3D ones.

GDV Mini makes the colors a bit richer, if it bothers you, go with crt-pi instead for 2D titles.

Pi and also ZFast are very good, Potato ain't half bad either. But I've found the two I listed initially to work the best without sacrificing speed.

Only up to PSX though, tried a few of them with the Dreamcast games and they all introduce visible slowdown.

Most people seem to prefer the Royale line of CRT shaders, but I wasn't able to run them on my chinkheld.

I don't know much about this kind of stuff, but if the battery life of this retroid pocket 4 is good, then it sounds like a good deal. If it really can play dreamcast and sega saturn games without a hitch, with analog triggers to boot. That sounds nice, and it being designed like a game boy advance is my preference too. But I think most devices are in that form factor now, like the steam deck. 150 USD for something like that seems like a steal. Apparently PSP games are ideal on it as well due to the widescreen and button layout - I hope there's no devil's finger like the buttons being garbage or something. The directional pad does look like one big hunk of plastic where false inputs could be easily read.

this 100%
I am also unironically a Woman trapped in the body of a male, which is cool because I am a lesbian, so having a penis is great, the bad thing is that gay men find me attractive because I am somewhat effeminate, and many girls before have thought I am gay, until being friends we start fucking regularly lol...

What I do is I project my feminine mental body unto my female partner, and consider the sex I practice on her, something I experience both in my body by performing it, but I also experience it by proxy as a form of maturbation, vicariously, through her body...

I think this convoluted issue has made me a great fuck with women, I truly do enjoy foreplay and exploring "my body", it is like I am masturbating for the first time in my brand new REAL FEMANLE 100% CREATED BY GOD body, each time I have a new girfriend...

I adore the female essence and identify with it, but I am no bottom nor enjoy men as partners, I do respect the penis, and consider an amazing tool, but males are simply not attractive to me.

So I guess I am lucky my form of perseived femminine essence is lesbian...

I am actually bisexual, but I was molested by an uncle, so I do not really like sexual interactions with males, only females are the object of my true affection.

So I do not even entertain the thought of dressing up, I like being a male, it is only that my essence is more feminine... it is weird, I think I am a butch, think of Captain Marvel, I am that toxic to males that hit on me, and I act like a butch female, because I am biologically a male.

I am a repressed Catholic, and a true believer in Christ, and I rather be a Saint than a Degenerate, the Book talks about it... we can enjoy marriage anyway, but even Apostles write in the new testament that being bound by flesh and desire is detrimental to the spirit.

I've been with over 30 women, and 5 years without sex now. I think of God now, and enjoy Erotica for its Glorious Aesthetics.

The End

Dude please try the cheap yet incredibly well built, RG280V, pic related.

It feel premium and heavy on the hands, much more than the flimsy feeling GBA SP. And the form factor is basically the same. There even is a silver one.

It is "Petite"
You do have to hold it close to your face, but it is insanely portable (smaller than half of wallets I have seen) and potent.
I can see it no problem, but I have found that some cheap glasses for standard "tired sight" from a Pharmacy help me make the image a bit larger, I guess I am getting old.

If you have sight issues I would recommend bigger screens. The GBA SP (RG280V by proxy) was designed for teens not grannies.

Keep in mind the poster I was recommending it to wants to play GBA almost exclusivelly, which is pretty much 2D pixelart that looks AMAZING in small screens.

The RG280V has a native emulator (ReGBA) accessible through the Linux OS or the SimpleMenu interface, which has been optimized for the RG280v chip and peculiar screen, and it has a GPU option for Bicubic Filter and Hardware Scaling "Scale 2x" which makes GBA games look like 24k GOLD on the tiny screen.

Consider GBA games have fonts adapted for smaller screens.

PSX games can be trickier to read with tired eyes, because fonts will be smaller.

Also. reGBA emulator has the only REAL 6x >> Fast Forward of all the emulators, all the Retroarch Cores for GBA wrestle with FF in this tiny chip. But reGBA truly is optimized for the chip.

Great emulator for grinding RPGs in which you can FF the battle animations when you have your best moves already on queue and can spam button A through battles at TRUE 6x speed.

It IS tiny.
Your arms will get tire after an hour of holding it close to your face (I hold it above my chest) on the bed... but then I only play for an hour once or twice per day...

I am not telling you it is the best screen.. but the form factor is right there between GBA SP and GBA Micro, with twice the pixel density, and 6x Fast Forward, plus full PSX compatibility.

PSX RPGs and most simple games run great without analog sticks.

Not everyone is the same. I love having stylized objects, I am autistic like that, and the form factor and build quality of this specimen is superb as a GBA replacement.

Consider the warnings and how I replied to them, those are fair, but not lethal, and some are even misinterpretations because RG280V has double the density of the GBA, so it can afford to be smaller, like the GBA Micro screen.

Pixel art was made for smaller TVs, even the SNES was made for SUPER EXPENSIVE tiny 15 inches televisions in mind, the whole 50 inch Television fade is 10 years old...

Pixel art is to look at from afar.

Honestly, I've bought about a dozen devices, but the only one I bought twice was the SF-2000. It's the single most comfortable horizontal handheld I have ever held in my life, and it has all the little details down perfect like having a power switch and volume wheel. Not the best at GBA and SNES emulation, but it's also the one everybody I've been talking and showing them to since I got into them back in March of this year with the RG35XX have all loved the SF-2000 for its simplicity. And it's fucking $15-20.
I mostly use my R36S though, not my favourite vertical handheld from even this year, but it plays the N64 and DreamCast titles I wanted in handheld form. Planning on the GDK Pixel and RP4 standard next.

Lowest input lag would be something like the Analogue Pocket that isn't using emulation but FPGA. Otherwise, most of them are around 2 frames of delay standard except shitters like the Odin devices that have way too much lag.

To play video games, which requires physical buttons. I'm confused on why you're confused. It's all about convenience. It's more convenient to use accurate, reliable inputs on a device that just turns on and continues the game I was recently playing. I don't have to kill my phone's battery bottlenecking a bunch of background applications and having Google babysit everything I do while trying to play a game. Carrying a clip-on controller, or worse, an actual fucking console controller to use woth your phone right there kills any and all convenience of portable gaming has. Unless you're playing some idle Farmville-tier bullshit or Cut The Rope, playing games on your phone is fucking retarded and a terrible experience even when proper games can run well through emulation, or worse, streaming.
I don't even know why I'm bothering because every /hhg/ has one post-2000s manbaby asking why anyone likes handhelds. Which we all know, in reality, is them asking us why THEY should like handhelds. They see people liking a thing they don't like, but they Common Core education has bludgened it into them that they NEED to be included in everything. You were never interested in handhelds, you're interested in being included. Your entire generation by design can't fathom people liking things without including you. I do use my smartphone actually, attached to a telescopic controller to give it more of a Switch form factor, and it works well for me. However, while this is a solution, just like using an XBOX controller like you mentioned, that isn't really what most people here want. In general people don't own multiple smartphones, and playing on your main smartphone for messages and calls is quite a bother depending on how many of those you get in a day, also many people just prefer to have a distinction over their devices that are for work and the ones for play. Also, a controller on a smartphone that's already quite big might be a handheld, but it certainly isn't pocketable, you'll need a bag to take it with you to places, while a lot of these handhelds are pocketable instead.

Also, just addressing your laptop question, it's simple really, a handheld's way smaller and a lot easier to hold and carry with you, also easier to play on your bed, while a laptop would have to sit on your lap for that to be viable, but a handheld just fits in your hands and allow for you to be in a more comfortable position at all times while you play. I think that's all there is to say about this...

No need to get disencouraged about getting a bit of a bad reception, I think it's fine if you want to post on these threads, but you need to get that coming into the thread and acting as if the whole point of it for most is baffling/not valid makes it so they take it personally, they'll get bothered by you, you have to be more respectful about it, and not confront people on liking stuff.

In general a lot of us smartphone users in these threads get a lot of hate, some of it is quite unfair in my eyes, but a lot of it comes from the classic "Just use your phone" posts we still get.

This specifically. If somebody hasn't learned this within their twenties, they're doomed to "multitask" and procrastinate any work they're supposed to be actually doing by distracting themselves. Whether someone's on the spectrum or not, having one device for everything means you're going to be doing everything on it half-assed. The higher the PPI, the tinier everything will look unless upscaled properly. For example, trying to play GBA games on the outside screen on the Galaxy Z Flip5. To be fair; as an adult. I don't really need anything "pocketable". I actually love having a carrying case. The ones that come with the gamesir x2 bluetooth are fantastic. I'm for anything-anything that lets people play retro games. The superiority complex is silly though for those who act as such. For me? My personal satisfaction comes from having found the cheapest ways to play my games that don't involve hundreds of dollars in purchases. For some, there is an addiction factor; if you have more than one or two handhelds; are you really playing all of them regularly? On the other side of the coin; I have mad respect for anyone who has collected their items over the years and kept their stuff in prime condition like the psp/ds guy I mentioned with the pretty artwork. Any stable individual should be able to look at either view objectively and be like "both are cool". For example; Ive never purchased a handheld but the retroid pocket series has consistently put out great product. The odin series seems solid as heck. Gpd products fascinate me.

At some point one of these mini pc types might actually get me as again I'm allured by multi-functionality. And having a pocletable Linux computer sounds pretty dope, but again.... my phone kind of is that already. Whenever I upgrade to a new phone I buy two in case stolen/lost/broken. not really cope, more just a bit sad. ofc better specs are good, but then again I don't think I'd want my device that much later. when 4 comes out, you could still wait for 5, then wait for 6, and so on. it's an endless cycle, grass is always greener in the next product. time is a resource too. every month holding on for the next big thing is a month without using the current product.
I also mostly make my way up going between SNES, Genesis, PS1 and N64. frankly, RP3+ is enough for that. I kind of wish I had fullspeed GC / PS2, but really though, I haven't even bothered with both yet. I know some PS2 games run well on RP3+, but I just feel lazy to try them. don't even care about 3DS and PSP.
lastly, I have sensitive eyes, to the point I can't use half the screens today. if they put a shitty OLED or a bad IPS in it, I'd just have to return it. RP3+ has been fine, but I had to adjust colors and turn on yellow tint. I know I'm walking the line here.

Also, I find it fun to have these discussions sometimes.

>>10521326
It doesn't, you can get the Backbone One while never paying them anything after your purchase, the subscription is for their application, that has a few benefits, but nothing crucial, like giving it this central hub for all video games you have on your device, or being able to use it on your PC, I think no feature of the application is truly a must at all, for some it's worth it, but it's not required.

Fair enough. I also happen to emulate on my Note 20 Ultra a lot, especially NDS, since the phone even has a stylus and everything. But action games are either terrible or I have to use the 8BitDo Micro I carry with me, so it's a tiny bit less ass. That thing cost me like 12 green ones, so I couldn't care less if it breaks or gets damaged, whereas I'd try to keep an RP4 Pro better-protected.

A Note 20 Ultra sounds fantastic, still better than most current midrange smartphones to be fair, It sounds sweet to emulate DS on. 8BitDo seems to get a mixed reception here, though I like them as I've never had a problem with their stuff, and it's quite cheap, depending on what you get. I'd say it's the main benefit of getting a controller for a smartphone over a dedicated handheld, most of the controllers are quite cheap, so if they break it's fine, unless you go for a Backbone of Kishi, I don't think they're all that worth it for their cost, but that's just me. A 5" 16:9 gives 4" of 4:3 space if that's what you're asking. If you literally mean what 16:9 screen size would give the same total 7.7" area as a 4" 4:3 screen, that would be a 4.25" 16:9 screen. Interesting how the former is essentially a Vita screen while the latter is essentially a PSP screen.

>>10522784
If you're maxing out on PS2 or something, you'll just have to deal with the reality of needing a fan at this time and price. For the vast majority of stuff though, you should be able to simply turn the fan off. Odin Lite and Flip both had this option, I assume it just makes the clock rate where fan would be needed inaccessible until you enable the fan.

Honestly, no. The gamecube version just isn't the trouble for me over the ps2 version regardless. 60/50fps is nice but the drop in audio and texture quality doesn't really make up for it, and if you're playing on a handheld with no analog triggers, you can't even take advantage of the analog trigger driving controls of the gc version either.
Also as someone who likes to alternate between dpad controls and analog stick controls, the ps2 letting you switch on the fly while you drive is better for me. For some reason the gamecube version maps the dpad to warping your car back in place.

LG Stylo 5 -Sister gave it to me when she got a Ssung 23 ultra. Plays all the prior plus PS1, N64, and most of PSP.

I just wish they had small bezels instead of round screen corners, and a 16:9 aspect ratio again... it's really all they have to do, 19.5:9 and 21:9 are just awful for retro emulation, too much stretch, or a ridiculous amount of negative space, there's not much of a way around it. I loved the design of the Razer smartphone, to be quite honest, looked so sleek and I wish smartphones were more like it...

Also, Sony's Xperia lineup was superb when they were still 16:9, like the ZX1 compact, just superb.

So after a week of use, jumping back and forth between old and new systems I can say the odin 2 is everything I wanted
The battery is fucking good and I love how fucking fast it charges, I love the new face bottons, they feel like the ones on my MM+ , I can tap them rapidly no problems and they correctly register the input while also feeling good on every press
My first impresion of the plastic was that it felt kind of cheap tbqh but it has dry (?) texture to it making very comfortable to hold for long periods of time, that texture is present on the d-pad as well
I can play any ps2/GC/Wii/3ds game I want with textures packs without problems
I can play the indie games (Hades, Enter to the gungeon, Slay the spire, Ender lilies, just to name a few) I wanted to play with the switch emulation just fine

Actually wanted to give a correction to this post, SH2 does have some minor visual issues when emulated. Some feel like they're a result of using widescreen hacks, like sometimes pop-in in some areas with tight cameras, sometimes they just sort of feel like weird "seams" that sometimes appear for lack of a better term. Still, definitely playable and beats the HD Collection at least. There's definitely no major issues with performance so far.

>>10524724
It's nowhere near as powerful as that Snapdragon in the Odin yeah, but for $200 they're getting very good performance from it. It's undeniably a step up from a T618 or D900 for more demanding emulators, and for $50 over the base unit it's very good at what it does. No clue what those people are all doom and gloom about.
Of course that's not to say PS2 emulation is perfect, there's a few games like Gran Turismo 3 and 4 where I encountered lag spikes that impacted sound quality, and Drakengard has issues whenever it comes to 2D elements for some odd reason but I'm willing to write those off as emulator issues than anything. Especially Drakengard, because the gameplay portion actually plays fine, its just whenever you're cycling menus or watching cutscenes that it inexplicably becomes a powerpoint slideshow.

Considering the only gaming I do on a phone are shitty mobile games, I just want a phone that works with a 16x9 display, buttons, and for the volume and power buttons to be on opposite sides of the device, not side-by-side. But now all modern phones have these fucking retarded display sizes, volume and power buttons next to each other, usually a fourth button for some retarded shit like Siri or Bixby, finger print buttons, folding screens, etc etc. Sadly the best phone on the market at the moment seems to be the Google Pixel but holy fuck do I hate curved corners and floating cameras on my fucking screen. I don't really use mobile devices, was just trying some emulators on an old Amazon Fire tablet. Everything was closed, just was about to load some software. It then started being heavy, probably CPU usage. The screen took too long to turn off with the button so I tried rebooting. Now it won't start after letting it load for about 30 min, could the storage be messed up or something? Have yet to try the factory reset menu, I'll give the load screen 10 more min.

I adored Bonanza Bros. for the SEGA Genesis as a kid, though I could never get very far in it... still, I managed to pull it off in recent years, in all of the hardest settings no less! Anyway, after being sort of curious about the Master System version for a while now, due to being its own thing somewhat, and focusing solely on singleplayer side of things over the cooperative Bonanza Bros. is more well known for, I pulled the trigger and... I really love it, afterall it's just more of a video game and IP I already really like! Still... this one's kicking my ass though. I can't beat it even on the easier settings.

I mean, there are no difficulty levels here, unlike the SEGA Genesis version I grew up with, but we do get to mess around with the time and lives or continues, so that's kept the same... and even at everything maxed, all I can do is get to the 10th, and last, level... but lose. Still, I'm loving this one.

ackshully the PSP's issue was that it was easier to hack than the DS, as the DS needed a dedicated flash cart while the PSP could just use any Pro Duo memory stick. the pro duo was also insanely expensive and proprietary for the PSP as well
a ton of games for the PSP also required firmware updates and UMDs got phased out entirely when the Go came out
so while youre not wrong, the comparison is irrelevant and that isnt why the vita failed nor was it entirely why the psp failed

being able to CFW from just a memory stick wasnt a thing until several years into the PSP's life span
iirc before that you'd need exploits that would be constantly found and patched within games like Lumines, Liberty City Stories, and i think Patapon or Locoroco and a few other games idr
also think the earliest exploits were just run through the browser? like when it was added in like 2.0, people quickly found some sauce
in general the psp was just constantly ripped open by the homebrew/hacker scene beyond belief because of how easy it was to get the device to run unsigned code

Actually it was insanely inexpensive flash memory made for cameras and cell phones at the time before SD cards were a thing, but you can keep talking out of your ass, no one can stop you from being "that kid". The Memory Stick Duo released at a time where a 1 GB USB stick cost fucking $100.

Is there some reason to go for a pickup truck over a firetruck? I see civilians driving them all the time and I'm tempted to work some extra hours for a nice one, but I drove a firetruck a while back and had a really bizarre issue with the thing being too big and powerful to be utilized anywhere a pickup truck would. I couldn't take it through fast food drive thrus, I couldn't get into parking garages, go under low bridges, it was really bizarre when I was barred from driving another (damn thing never turned properly). Being American made I'm a bit apprehensive to drop the $35,000+ on one, because if there's some issue I'm afraid I'd just have to use their proprietary dealership services.
Okay, so your issue isn't the typical, "you're just too poor" or, "why wouldn't you always buy the biggest and bestest" arguments most Steam Deck users/fans use, but what are you going to be banned from on the Odin 2? No Android device bans you from using it and you can make infinite Google accounts. Ayn can't stop you from buying a second Odin 2 if you want to.

The ARC systems and the RG35XX+ haven't been out long enough for the user reviews to show up. Everyone who wanted an RG405V seems happy with it despite its silly bulky shape and size.

Wait what the fug, I just checked and there's already three RG35XX+ reviews. Why aren't the ARC reviews showing up? Maybe ARC purchasers had a similar experience where they simply couldn't rate it. What the fuck?

Also the New Year sale prices are in Canadian while mysteriously the text prices still default to USD for me, their site is not that well designed at all. I also noticed the straight up lie where it claims the default price of the RG35XX original model is $49.99 CAD... it's $49.99 USD, $64.99 CAD. And while typing this I noticed they fucked up the RG353M, RG Nano, and RG405V prices too, it's inconstant whether the New Years sales prices are Canadian or US dollan prices.

Hold on a tick, the RG35XX+ already has three reviews while the ARC handhelds have none. Maybe the ARC review link specifically is fucked? But they did originally show RG Nano reviews, but last I saw when it was at 2/5 stars, they then disappeared. Maybe ARC purchasers such as yourself were just gypped out of giving it a review due to a glitch/Anbernic error.
