Can I see some of your setups? I want to rebuild the collection I had as a kid that my mom sold, but I am looking for some inspiration on how to put it all together.

You don't need a dozen systems all on display.

I dig that pvm. It looks better in terms of visual quality than that monitor in the photo.

I use one of these for my consoles, useful if you want to make use of vertical space

Well, mine's nothing special, I used to have a PS3 and a PS4 in my room, but now we've taken them to the living room so me and my dad can play PES together, also some Gran Turismo with both my dad and my sister, it's fun to play with family. All I've got in my room now is an 32' LED TV that I've had for about a decade now, my "handheld" that I made with a Samsung Galaxy M30 I had, and an affordable controller called the MOCUTE-060, it works, then there's also the 8BitDo M30 for my classic controller needs, while just emulating it all on my Samsung ATIV Book 2, also from about a decade ago. I also have this Sonic plushie my GF gave me this year, which I'm really fond of, that old MacBook is hers though, but it's not working at the moment. I really love my current setup.

It's all I really need right now, and it'll be easy to move it once me and my GF move in together as soon as I start making some money, I graduated few weeks ago, so I'm looking for a job right now. I'll probably switch the laptop for a Mini PC just for the living room, and get a few more of these retro controllers for a more accurate feel, also a 4K TV for shaders to look better. I'm excited!

I love this one! So many classic consoles, and it's all quite clean and organized. I'm sure this is one you'll want to set as a goal/example, OP. I hope you can built a setup you feel comfortable with.

>>10514823
So cozy, and even gives me a sophisticated vibe as it blends in with the living room so perfectly.

>>10515190
It's a pretty ideal solution, saving up all the space you can is crucial. Can you post your setup, anon?

It uses space, especially vertical space, quite well, I'm sure she loves it since it means more space to put all of her stuff in, those cushions we know all, or at least most, women love so much for some reason... if this is a separate room that's all yours though, then that's a terrific man cave, I think of having one sometimes, but at the same time it's kind of pointless since my setup's so simple now.

No point having that many consoles on display and/or hooked up since how often are you actually going to cycle through playing them? This year I have played A Link to the Past via Wii emulation of Super NES and Tomb Raider on PS1 both on my Trinitron CRT TV and then Resident Evil 4 Remake plus Separate Ways DLC on PS4 on my LG OLED TV. I might go YEARS before I play another game on my Wii or PS1, so may as well put them in storage until there's something I want to play. And a couple weeks ago I picked up a PS5 Slim, so who knows if I'll ever play another game on my PS4 console since PS5 has backward compatibility with upgrades for most PS4 games.

You may not like it, but this is what peak performance looks like.

This is basically what I had going on when I got my first tube a couple of years ago, except I cobbled together a cart on wheels from some lumber I had for another purpose in a couple of nights. I was pretty proud of that at the time, and it served me well.

I just have an lcd tv with my gamecube and switch hooked up sitting on my dresser, and some gamecube and switch games on the wall behind me. it's alright, but sometimes I wish I had more gamecube games, because I spent too much time obsessing over how to organize them sometimes.

i generally keep my snes and ps1 hooked up and everything else in shelving in a closet. then i swap one out if i want to play something of another system. i never got the appeal of the full ikea cubby of consoles. not in a negative sense, just that it can’t feel reminiscent of childhood when no one i knew kept more than 1-2 systems out even if they also had a couple from previous generations stored away somewhere. it’s part of a larger thing to me where the enjoyment of retro games is benefited by some effort at getting back the atmosphere. Not to an obsessive level but with things like keeping my crt positioned so i cant see/be distracted by my computer while playing.

>> No.10515972

I mostly just have my gamecube and switch hooked up to some 15? year old rca tv since I don't have a crt. I wish I had my gamecube games, but game prices in Canada are always either pricey, or local stores are overcharging for everything
