Not in that case. MGS5's jungle is small but they made it just to prove a point

Imagine if they'd let him finish it and all the animals were rendered in-game and you could capture the frogs and civets and badgers in real time like all the animals in MGS3.

I'm still convinced MGSV could have been the best game of all time if it wasn't kneecapped by Konami. I will never not be angry about this

Yes
Compare some of those "pixel art" games to 4th and 5th gen 2D games
Or some 6th and 7th gen 3D games with something like Starfield

>> No.10493505

visibility and readibility is better in retro games. that's why in modern games they have to paint interactive items in yellow

It was kneecapped by PS360, also Konami almost went bankrupt because creatividad loves spending money on nothing

>> No.10493528

I've seen some 6th gen games rendered at 4k and they sure can look great.

I think that DQ8 and TLoZ:WW still look amazing, but have in mind that I spend quite a lot of time staring at the waterfalls from the PS2 DQ5 remake and just going "wow that looks amazing".

Most remasters look worse these days thanks to the competence crisis. Look at Klonoa, they couldn't even figure out where to put the trees, so some of them are just in the water.

man, the opening section of MGSV's africa was such a cocktease. You land in a lush jungle thinking this is how it's going to be, only to then find out that it's just a little section you run through for 10 seconds and the overwhelming majority of the africa map is just open grasslands

MGS3 doesn't look good. Itss grass looks like hard spikes, it's all blurry and like there is a filter making everything look unicolor

Yes, most 2D titles from the SNES/Genesis have aged A LOT better than early 3D titles from the PS1/N64 era did.

I mean, just compare the Aladdin titles from the SNES and Genesis to the PS1 title, or Virgin's The Lion King to the PS1 release, it's absurd.

Yes. I think older games look more cohesive or balanced. I know nothing of the technology behind it and I'm speaking out of my ass, but on something like Super Nintendo the graphics were limited in a way that meant as long as you hired a good artist your game could be one of the best looking games on the console. It's like every game had the same graphics since they were all just using the same pixels and animation techniques. This couldn't happen now. There's too many parts. 3D is where things got tricky and now it's an extremely rare case where everything in a game looks equally good. I also think geometry plays into it too. MGS3's levels are fairly basic, but it's not immediately noticeable and doesn't really matter. I think the realistic graphics of the remake are going to clash hard with the basic geometry of the original in a strange way that will be hard to put into words for most players.

Not in this timeline. Both movies and games stopped making progress and have been regressing for years now. It's pretty much a meme at this point.

Do you unironically believe your lord and savior Kojima aka the Creatividad himself couldn't make MGS5 the greatest game in the history of mankind literally just because evil stupid Konami decided to ruin his game for no good reason?

For me, it is possible. I dislike way too visual realism in games and for my taste there has been way too much realism since the 7th generation of consoles.
Back then there were a bunch of visual styles, even for big games. Now most big games look way too samey, there are barely any visual styles, it's just realism with different type of settings

I love them too, it has a lot of charm, but when I look at with while trying to remove all of my own bias, and see it more objectively... it hasn't aged as well. I mean, Genesis Aladdin looks just like its film, which is exactly what you'd want from a film adaptation into a video game, and yet the PS1 title, which was technically superior hardware, is quite goofy looking nowadays, it's ridiculous.

despite having less detail on things like faces, mgs2 looks way better than mgs3 because it has a much higher frame rate.
