Do yourself a favor and play Snow Barrel Blast whenever it's a heavy snow outside. The foreboding atmosphere hits perfect when it's happening out your window. Add a cup of cocoa to make it perfect.

Depends on what you're doing each day. The maximum playable time on any given day in Shenmue is one hour, at which point you're forced home to sleep. But you can also go to bed earlier than that and sometimes things are progressed via story events. The game starts on November 29th, but the first playable part is on December 1st, so there's not much time to pass before Christmas.

Daze Before Christmas which is...a below average platformer where you play as Santa Claus. It's not good and I don't think it was even released in the US. It would have made an OK rental, something your parents would rent you to keep you distracted while they wrapped presents.
There's all kinds of explicitly Christmas themed retro games on the PC though. LGR covers a few of them every year.

There's really not much, the best are levels in other games. Like other anon said, there's daze before Christmas, then there's also robocod. Both are not the best, but at least robocod has hardcore Christmas aesthetics and odd yet interesting level design. I feel like there's just less plot possibilities. Halloween games go from silly to spooky to scary and everything in-between, plus they can be enjoyed during other seasons, while there's only so many times you can recycle, for example, "Santa fucked up" plot. So best christmas games tend to be the ones which only take place on Christmas.
Christmas at least has a decent amount of holiday demos, ranging from "we made several original levels and entire gameplay gimmicks to better yule you up" to "here, have a santa hat, now fuck off".

I always loved the first moment you see snow in Halo 1. You come out a door and suddenly, it's snowing, and Cortana is as surprised as you are. It's mega comfy and the level is great.

Not too big on snow areas in something like an FPS since you are actively killing while being killed in there. Prefer them to be more peaceful areas you explore rather than an active warzone that happens to be covered in snow, probably why I love snow towns in RPGs.

I barely see this part of FF7 talked about for some reason but it's one of the best pieces of atmosphere I've ever seen in a game. They put this town right after Aerith dies and combined with the OST it's this perfect feeling of melancholy emptiness, you just lost someone that felt very important to you but you're thrust into this melancholy, empty town in the middle of nowhere and you see people's lives just going on as normal.
