Nah. Mario and Zelda's songs are always there to service the game or to be tech demos. SMW sticks out like a sore thumb today, there's nothing noteworthy happening in its music, it's all just to show off the audio effects you can do on the SNES. Even their attempts to show off (SMB3 and SMW2:YI) were never really carrying the game for anyone. They simply don't like to show off. All the good stuff usually comes out from other studios, like Square, Hal Laboratory, etc.

It's not stolen. At most, it's miscredited as to who created it. Tommy's employees made the music, whose rights go to Tommy, and this is nothing new. Just ask game composers. Their works almost exclusively belong to the developer/publisher.

difference is that the japs had to compose everything using MML and assembly language or sequenced it themselves using MIDI and had programmers transcribe it into code/MML. that still takes enormous amount of skill and time. tommy loaded up midi files he found on bulletin boards or public domain CDs made by other people and copy/pasted data he wanted into his sequencer. that retarded manlet fraud didn't even have the skills to copy anything by ear.

There's a huge difference between an inspiration and flat out plagiarism or simply using somebody else's music wholesale. The SMB theme has similarities to Sister Marian, sure, but it is absolutely its own distinct composition.
