I legit thought it was an empty case. They usually keep games in their glass display, so I wasn’t sure it was all there. Manual, both discs, like brand new. I think it was donated by mistake.

Yeah fuck that, plenty of used game shops near me with that same bullshit. You would think with all the ODE options for PSX, discs would’ve tanked.

funny thing is I was in that same store today and I found that just had a copy of f-zero gx laying around. It was missing it's manual, was in a completely different case than the usual gamecube case, and they wanted $80 for it. I hadn't even seen the disc before they said they could put it in a usual gamecube case for $105 total, because "gamecube game cases are rare" or some shit like that. The fucked up part is that said store is the only one that actually has any games worth noting, but nobody's buying them because they're all either really expensive, in shit condition, or both.

That's generally early PS1 models with all-plastic laser assemblies where that happens, not the PSOne.
In fact a common way to actually fix an early model PS1 with a fucked plastic assembly is to replace it with the assembly from a PSOne specifically because they don't get fucked up.
Space-saving is the only reason here, but it does look dumb as fuck and it's a shame to have a nice-looking console like the PSOne set up like that.

>Plasma is life my dude. What model is it?
It's a Panasonic PZ85 from 2008, not an especially desirable model but still puts out a nice picture in low light. This particular one is a "black riser" model and I have an Audiodane device installed to keep the black levels down.

I'm thinking about upgrading to an OLED this black friday, but I have mixed feelings about it because I'll be sacrificing a lot of convenience. Every device in my TV stand is connected to my plasma. With OLED you're lucky to get a single composite input.

>> No.10406681

>>10406404
The 42" 1080p models are a nice niche I think, not many TVs you can get of that size/quality. Upgrades in current year are either a bigger later generation plasma or an OLED paired with an upscaler. Plasma is much cheaper upfront but the running costs are obviously a lot more in the long run. IMO I'd go for a 2013 plasma if you can find one but if you have loads of money go for OLED.

I've got $700 in gift cards burning a hole in my pocket, only reason I'm even considering an upgrade... and I'm not throwing the plasma away. I also have my old 32'' Samsung LCD boxed up in a closet because it also has tons of inputs on the back.

I would be curious to hear from anyone here who has multiple systems elegantly connected to an HDMI-only TV and how you make it work. My Denon AVR has some component/composite inputs with HDMI passthrough. I was just testing my OG Xbox via component, seems to work alright without introducing noticeable lag. Will still need some additional equipment if I want to use S-Video with the N64 and VGA on my Dreamcast, but I don't want to be buying a plethora of converter boxes.

>> No.10406959

>>10404406
Not really. It's hit n miss, there's some guy on YouTube that does good reviews, i forget his name, but that's how I ended up with my current projector(the pic I posted). It's a nexigo and it's not bad for being so cheap. It's got low lag for a cheap projector and looks nice with older consoles, so I'm not mad about it. You could go super autistic over the this shit, that's my by bag, baby. It works, I dont notice the lag and it looks fine. And it's fucking amazing with Wii guncon games and emulation.

I just use a hdmi switch box on my pioneer LX508D since it only has 2 inputs, it's not that big a deal I wouldn't see it as a deal breaker just account for an ossc/upscaler in the budget or such since you also hook up retro stuff to your panasonic. Just the way it is if you wanna upgrade, I personally use a b&o mx4200 for my retro stuff but modern wise I think I'm just sticking with my plasma until it explodes.

Replacement boards can often be found on ebay, and at least with Panasonic models the power LED will blink a set number of times to indicate the nature of the fault and give you a clue what needs to be replaced. That said, my parent's plasma recently died and the only replacement board on ebay was listed for over $100, much more than the set it worth.
