My brothers and I got that game when we were kids and my brothers loved it.

I never knew it was supposed to suck until a couple of years ago.

You people can bitch and parrot all you want, but Atari 2600 games were all pretty abstract.

And those that werent were usually a one trick pony.

Yes, there were better games like Montezuma or Keystone Capers, but ET had lots of mechanics, objectives, screens and so on.

Moreso, Superman was a similar game and nobody ever bitches about that one.

He definitely fixes E.T.'s most frustrating gameplay issues, mainly just the fucking wonky choice in collision detection. What makes E.T. such a fucking disasterous footnote in gaming history is all of the boneheaded decisions Atari made surrounding its creation, on top of the rushjob programming. It's like a rare perfect storm of fucking stupid decisions.

A friend of mine took my copy one night and made an effort to beat it. It only took him like half an hour to wrangle the pits and beat it properly. It is interesting to note that it does have a definitive ending, considering what it is and what it was made for.

Conan was the ultimate newfag. Anyone can hate the 2600 for its limitations. It only becomes amazing when you grant those limitations from within.
