What are some retro vidya sites you've come across?

https://www.nintendo.co.jp/n01/index.html
Nintendo still have their N64 showcase online.

I don't visit them anymore, a lot of them are derelicts and full of viruses injected from random evildoers on the internet.

most of the retro sites I have huge nostalgia for were homestead sites so they're all gone and dead without archive or a way to search for them.

The very first message board I ever posted on, an old boardhost one disappeared earlier this year. It was part of the "NES Scene" the first wave of post-market NES collectors and enthusiasts. For the past several years it averaged maybe one post every two months but I'd check it frequently out of habit. It was a huge part of my youth and it's just...gone, along with the dozens of personal sites the sceners had. I really miss the old internet. Feels bad man.

>last i checked, forums redirected to a sketchy korean website
>only semblance of activity were people posting comments on the most recent Roy's Sports Hall, which doesn't even seem to work anymore
Funnily enough, I was just thinking about this site earlier. One of Lemmy's game ideas for a SM64-esque game with the Koopalings came to mind and I was thinking about how something like that would actually be possible now given how much SM64 romhacking has improved in the last 5 years.

At least fun fiction still works.

http://i-mockery.com/
http://www.i-mockery.com/romhacks/
http://www.i-mockery.com/minimocks/abobos-big-adventure//

Tangently /vr/ related as the webmaster/main content creator of i-Mockery, Roger Barr, is a close friend and collaborator of Tom Fulp and was part of the group that made Abobo's Big Adventure. You know, the big Flash game love letter to NES games like Double Dragon (obviously), Zelda, and others. There's some other /vr/ content on there as well such as shitty NES ROM hack reviews.

Coming back here is always a massive punch in the gut when you realize that the site still exists, you can log in if you had an old account but the forums are gone, and there's been no content for the last five years outside of Roger's random thoughts about his life and his wife's suicide, and how he never got to truly mourn her by going back to places they visited as a couple so he could spread her ashes because he's a sick boy and Covid would kill him.

Yes, and the japanese still develops for Desktop first, and separate websites for desktop and mobile.

Westroon design is mobile first or mobile only with 10MB of HTML5, CSS, DRM and 20 lbs of pussy and ass for every 1 kilobyte of text.
