/vr/ - Retro Games

I had an N64, Playstation, PS2, GBC, GBA, DS, and a Gamecube. I had a plethora of games for all of them (or at least that's how I remember it) and I sold them all, thinking, "I'm in 7th grade now, I don't need any of these anymore!" I didn't even make that much off of any of them, maybe a combined 300 or, at the highest, 400 dollars. No idea what I spent the money on. But since I've regained pretty much all of it, though with much chagrin.

Ever since I've made it a policy to never sell video games without just reason. The last things I sold were some PS3 games that I already had the equivalent of on PC, like Dark Souls and GTA IV.

I still have almost everything I had as a kid I've only ever sold off a handful of those games. My regret is that I was too young to know I should have kept the boxes and manual to NES and Gameboy games. I did keep all of them from my SNES and N64 games, though.

NES deluxe set - everything gone through the years except the system itself. So many broken/lost game and accessories.

SNES - I can't even remember where this went. Traded or sold over time I guess?

N64 - Lost after storing

Gamecube - sold it off (no regrets)

SMS - I have no clue where this went but I remember playing it and thinking "this is crap"

Genesis/Sega CD - I wish I can remember what happened to this, I remember playing dragons lair while still being young enough to not know how bad a port it was.

TG16 - Had for a short time and water damage happened while in basement storage

Dreamcast - I really don't know where this went

PS 1 and 2 - I sold to upgrade to next gen

GBC - Gave away to poor kid (no regrets)

GBA - Screen broke/trashed

GBSP - Got super cheap used for 1 game and gave away to poor kid (no regrets)


I think this covers things I lost.

All I got's left is muh NES and a newer SNES. Flash carts as I can't bother collecting anymore. Also a couple Wii's, 360 and PS3, not that they count.

My Dad made me give away our nes, snes and ps1.

Now I've been meaning to rebuild my nes and snes collection again.

I kept all my video games (easily stored) but I gave away all my transformers, except Jetfire. I recently re-purchased the rarest "Prehistory Animals" dinobot knockoffs but I felt pretty silly paying $200+ for four loose transformers.

I have an enormous Transformer collection bought during my thrifting now but it still could use some of those G1s I gave away... You don't find many of those in thrift stores.

I traded in Super Castlevania IV and Zelda 3 for Final Fantasy Mystic Quest

I still have my Dreamcast, my Playstation, my Gameboy SP, my Gamecube and shit ton of controllers and game for those system.

I have them all stored in a box but I never really felt like playing them anymore. I do not know what to do with them and I do not want to throw them out.

Maybe not one of the rarest games; I still shouldn't have sold it.

I traded in Conkers Bad Fur Day after I completed it. Can't remember what I bought with the credit, but it was probably something shite and worth very little now.

Selling my N64 and all my games for it is my only true vidya related regret.

No regrets. I was in college and needed food and gas. Now I have a college degree, emulators and no food or gas.

I almost never sell my games because I'll always go back and replay em, but I recently made a killing at gamestop.

They had this whole deal going where you could turn in new games for a set profit, I traded in bioshock infinite and Galaxy 2, which would come around to maybe 24 bucks total.

My dad really wanted injustice so I got it for him, for the trade in deal and got it for 10 bucks. then realized I didn't have a second dualshock, so I took it back hoping for a refund.

Instead of refunding me 10, they refunded me 60 bucks in full, three times what I initially set out to make.

I moved to a different city and forgot my box of n64 games at my old house. In there was Conker AND a second factory sealed copy of Conker. I also left both Banjo-Kazooie games ,which I dont feel as bad about, but i REALLY want to replay. My old roommate still lives there and I'll eventually go back and get them (I hope) but he is a methhead and if i tell him and he finds out what theyre worth, I will never see them again.

Sold my SNES collection (LttP, Super Metroid, Mario World, Mario RPG, Mario All-Stars, 30+ others) and an Unlimited Black Lotus in rough condition for $100. I was in high school, and I bought weed with the money. I regret that so much.

How the fuck do you shits lose/forget systems? I understand moving homes can get stuff in tangles, but losing them all together?

And trading them? My parents would've flipped if I did that. They never bought me systems. They got me some games for them, though.

My uncle got me a Game Gear for Christmas, and I had 9 games total. Bought a PS1 with my own money, and a PS2 the same way.

27 now, and I have a PS3, Wii, DS, and PSP with a healthy amount of accessories and games each.

Animal Crossing for Game Cube, not just the game but all the extra hardware including the GBA link cable and the e-Reader. All I have left are the cards.

Also, my WarioWare collection for the GBA and DS. I've managed to get copies of WarioWare.inc(GBA) and Wario Ware Touched, but I have yet to get WarioWare Twisted.

Dreamcast: my brother sold it with all our games... i've lost some crazy good game like Shenmue 1&2, Skies of Arcadia, or Marvel vs Capcom 2...

GameBoy DS: I've broke it... I've let her on my desk during many days. One day i discovered that my top screen was broken... The sun which come on my desk destroyed it... now i can't play Chrono Trigger T T

my neighbors kindly gave me their colecovision, atari, and a shit ton of games and hard to get controllers. Man I wish I hadn't sold that stuff off to afford more vidya, I had so many great games and it was the first time I got to play classics like zaxxon, time pilot, warlords, and frogger. I even had the steering wheel expansion and a copy of turbo.

When I got my PSOne, I gave all of my Famiclone and its games to my cousin. All 30+ of them. I even got the Japanese version of Demon Sword. It was harder but being able to turn into a dragon was fun as hell.

Sucks, but honestly, how shitty was your mouse by the time you went to trade it in? I remember mine was basically unusable after a fair amount of use. Eventually, I would just take the ball out, and manipulate the rollers with my fingers. It sucked.

my Atari 7800 & NES broke down on me.

my big brother lend out my GB, which i never got back. my GB Pocket got lost by my sister.

Sold Kirby Super Star for $10 when the 64 just came out. The battery died in the cartridge, I meant to get a replacement copy, but never did.

Also, I lent my Megaman X to a friend, his mother put it up for sale in a garage sale a week later. I was pretty bummed about that, even more so now that the cart's so expensive and I can't play it on the original platform anymore.

Panzer Dragoon Saga. Bought it new when it first came out. Few years later (around 2003), saw it was going for 100 on eBay and sold it.

Also sold a Nights launch day special edition (think it was a Best Buy exclusive). Came inside this 15 inch long cardboard box with a bunch of goodies inside: An EGM, candy, and two hilarious promotional VHS tapes sponsored by Howard Johnson.

Still have all my consoles, and besides loosing some games and getting some through stupid trades and borrow-agreements in the past, I have 99% of my games still.

The bad thing is that my mother threw out all my beloved Nintendo Power mags and all the Strategy Guides I had. They were so beautiful. And I'd love to read through them once again nowadays. Why oh why.

PSX: Still have the system in my entertainment center but most of my games are buried in my current basement.

I've had so many classic games lost and lent away: Mario RPG, Goldeneye, Sonic & Knuckles, TMNT 2.. it's crazy how many classic games I used to have.
