Seirei Gari on NES wasn't great, but it was good enough to get me into NES adventure games.

This and Warriors of Might and Magic had some potentional, 3DO just had to polish things a bit

Never heard of this. But I know there was an altered beast game for the ps2, I wonder how similar these two are?

The other games don't really do the transformations, I think. Also don't have a world as varied or open

Crusaders of might and magic is the first

>> No.10322943

>>10322648
Crusaders is not directly related to either.

It's Warriors of Might and Magic and Shifters is the sequel

>> No.10323118

Populous, any release. I never hear anyone talk about it. It's a city builder with a hero character, and you war with other tribes who worship different gods. Your hero character is a shaman that can use magic to alter terrain for building or fighting.

>turn based strategy rpg focused on arena fights but also has an overworld
>pretty open for exploration, if you have a good matchup against certain enemy types you can absolutely waltz into higher level areas
>wide variety of classes, with both historical gladiator types and fantasy units, and two entirely different civilizations (romans and gauls)
>option to start in either location with vastly different opening levels
>combo based attack inputs that keep combat from becoming a "bump this unit into this one and watch numbers" slog
>battle maps are well designed and use the game's rules well
>enemy AI is generally good and makes use of their units abilities without making obviously dumb moves like sending support units to go brawl
>never heard of anyone else playing it or seen it mentioned anywhere
I only got it because it was $5 at a game store and I wanted to see what a LucasArts game that isn't Star Wars looked like. It wound up being really fun and my favorite SRPG of it's era

If I'm not mistaken, this is a British FPS which strangely got released in the 90s only in Japan and then got imported back to Europe in 2000s by Midas to be released under their budget trash label.
