I recommend looking up user bravomanxx on sadpanda and the like.
Before his disappearance, he uploaded hundreds of galleries of various 90s VNs.
And since these CGs are small enough, you should be able to download most of them without GP.
You might find some gems here and there, but i feel this should give you a complete overview of how awful and amateurish most of them are.

A really beautiful game. Pretty casual by JRPG standards but some enemies can still kick your ass. I want to improve my Japanese before playing through it to the end. Think I've read that it is a personal project of the translator from the team that gave us translations for 46 Okunen Monogatari and other games, but I haven't seen news about it. By the way, there's a voiced PS1 version if you prefer your games that way.
I thought that the heroine was a ninja at first but later realized she is actually an onmyoji or mage. Also, I haven't seen much of the game before playing it so it was quite a twist when the game introduced the second hero. Kaies is one handsome nigga.

Are there any other RPGs with such beautiful and animated battle sprites? Breath of Fire (bonus for the same genre and battle perspective), Ragnarok Online and the Nippon Ichi Software games come to mind though they are more on the chibi side of things (it's fine too).

>> No.10317962

How did they draw these? Don't tell me with a mouse. Some sort of ancient drawing tablet the size of a car?

Not this guy but I've had a look at Forest's PC-98 games and they're tough nuts to crack. The main executable is a small .com file that reads from the main disk archive and loads code from it that performs basic services like loading an image or printing text. From there, more compressed code is loaded for the game logic that calls these services via interrupts.
It seems needlessly complicated but really cool from a programmer pov... and hell when it comes to hacking it.

Really a game I'd like to see translated.

I don't know the mythical Japanese language, but I want to play this game, because the story may work in this mode according to the CG gallery and my retard:

>Be Das Coommer
>Suddnley, a space-cute-funny-fairy enters in my room.
>Tell me that I am the chosen one or something like that.
>I, das coommer, must improve the lives of several girls (always cute and funny)
>I must win some space-card-game
>If I win, I improve the lives of the two sisters, the sickly girl, the tomboy with the spats and go on... For "improve", I mean give them a good old dose of SEX2
>After I have saved/improved/ all the girls, the fairy transform from a cute and funny space-fairy in a top woman.
>Woman Fairy falls in love with me.
>SEX2
>And everyone lived happily ever after
>End game.

I wish I knew Japanese. But at least I can admire the art.

Which one? There's so many different forks and a lot of them don't have any official site or repository.

Pretty sure I got it from the google sites one, but seems that moved to github. Anyway this is the same credited developer, so it should be the 21/w fork.
Can't find the instructions quickly, so I'll just paste it from the doc where I keep the hooks.
Basically add USETHOOK=true to the ini you will be using (x64 crashes, so not that one). You'll probably add savestates the same way anyway, so it's not even an extra step and that's really it. You then hook with textractor and have to manually add the hooks. I recommend opening the menus of the emulator itself first so you can remove those hooks to get rid of the clutter. Personally I don't use anything else as I just use it for quick kanji copy when I don't get it, but the guy who ported over the texthook capabilities from this emulator to the others also made a useful .lua script that you can use with textractor to remove the very common name first in textbox, as that appears in the same "dialogue box" so to speak. You can repurpose it by making your own list of names as you go through a game. Keep in mind that it is possible it might remove a name when it actually is at the start of a sentence, but that is very rare.

It would help if I actually link the the sites.

Were there any 32 bit games outside of the 9821 ones?
NEC started offering 386 models from 87 onward and the Epson PC-386 came out a year later.

This thread made me fire up Pia Carrot again. I stitched the beutiful uniform selector screen.
Such an interesting detail, after that, all portrait and CG use the uniform you chose. The bad thing is that you only unlock that one uniform in all pics in the CG collection menu.

Infinitely appreciated, I was the one who asked for those sheets back in that other thread. So thanks again!

You're welcome. Tbf, it was my first attempt at extracting sprites 10 years ago, before I knew assembly and wasn't familiar with image formats so I gave up.
A few months ago I had a look at Ningyou Tsukai 2 for Windows, to see how they handled text as it would make for a small translation project (all the dialogs are in the executable...) and stumbled upon the image loading code so I had a few sprites on hand, so when you asked for the VGMax sprites I knew I could do it. I also wanted to see how the PC-98 version handled this but that's another story >>10319045

If anyone's interested, I'll try to have the sheets for NT2 (Windows)

With that ponytail and uniform, she looks like Yuka's twin sister.
