Must be nice. My parents moved a bunch of my stuff to a dank part of the basement once after I moved to another state to find a better job. I didn't have much room in the place I found, so I asked them if it was okay to keep some of it at their house for a little while as I moved and got situated. The basement flooded and a lot of my precious old stuff was ruined.
Then, 5 years later, an idiot roommate at the time left a burner on under a pot of oil (they fried up some potatoes). It was an electric stove and the knob was just barely turned apparently.. the apartment was completely destroyed, along with all of my stuff.

Coin cells are usually lithium and typically in my experience don't leak and corrode. At least nowhere near as bad or in the same time frame as alkalines.

The stuff from your typical AA cell isn't acid. It's alkaline in nature (notice it's called an *alkaline* battery?) ...it should feel soapy to the touch. Call back to your high school chemistry, acids & bases neutralize each other, so you can use vinegar to help clear it up.

Some people try to use baking soda to clean (alkaline) battery leaks, but that too is basic. At best the baking soda is acting a mild abrasive on the affected surface.

I think older button cells are often alkaline, so if you have any Game & Watch and similar old LCD games, check on those.
