The complete negligence the Mega Drive's sound chips were treated with baffles me. American developers literally could not into FM synth. They'd throw midi music into software that automatically converted it to FM synth and call it a day. They'd do this on PC too, though for some reason Soundblaster music just sounds weak rather than having that satisfying "ear rape" quality it did on Genesis.
