10291520 No.10291520 [Reply] [Original]

Enix bids farewell to the Famicom with a monumental 768k MMC5 epic--actually outsourced as their in-house teams had switched to SNES development since 1990.

Command: "Just breed. NOW."
Noun phrase: "a breed that is just"
Actual intended meaning: probably some third thing that's completely different??

I liked it but by all means it should have been better than it is, wasted potential for a game stuck in dev hell for 3 years

like the equivalent of those late SNES games with 64 megabit ROMs

I don't think that Enix had any in house game development teams as they only published games and did not develop them.

>> No.10292872

I'd never heard of this. Looks really cool. I like the core mechanics ideas and the sprite work and art style seem excellent. I don't think I'd play it, because the reviews make the actual implementation of those ideas sound iffy at best. But I still appreciate something novel being discussed here.

at least it has the novelty value of being one of the five games on the console to top 512k of ROM (the others being Kirby's Adventure, Uncharted Waters, Pool of Radiance, and Metal Slader Glory).

what did anon mean by this?
just breed is no good either way. you are better off playing shining force by 1992. if it actually came out when intended (maybe in the holiday of 90 or 91) it could have been novel. you know, like a radia war, which is interesting.

>> No.10292919

What kills me about this game is that they hired a famous manga artist and what they did with it is those tiny ass monster portraits in the corner of the screen >>10291856 but only if you specifically and manually check the monsters

+ hired a famous composer but 90% of the time you'll be hearing the same one town music and the same one battle music

Wasted potential.

And not very much.
Just enough to get the message across.
