Huge fan of the original RE trilogy but after seeing Ross' video about this game, I'm not sure I wanna play it. Atmosphere looks nice but it's also full of cancerous game design from what I've seen

It’s not that bad, I think it controls maybe a bit better than OG re, but it’s campy af. Definitely go I to it with a b tier horror movie cast with an a toer plot. The game got fucked over and most of what they wanted to do got scraped. I’m surprised it’s as good as it is, though I do have a bias for campy shot. Love it came from the desert, zamn and star control 2 for some campy funny alien races for good measure.

of the countless RE clones I've never felt like a single one lived up to the original. DC2 does not count

Alone in the Dark: The New Nightmare came close. I find it funny that the series that inspired RE got its best game by ripping off RE.

It lead to six new alcoholics, two substance abusers, three divorces and a Frenchman beaten until his brain bled. Working on Alone 2008 (PS2) was a far better job. Both sucked though, fuck the French and fuck Atari. Uwe Boll is awesome and I make a cameo in the film adaptation of Alone in the Dark.

Infrogrames/Atari being absolute idiots. There are at least three posters on /vr/ who I know of personally who worked on The New Nightmare. Basically a bunch of formerly young and wild artists/programmers/buddies who've all gotten old, jaded and either left gaming or work on mobileshit now.

He was one of the artists and I was stuck at the asshole with the whip, carrot and programming skills. Thanks man. Unity higher ups are a bunch of cunts, with luck they'll get what they deserve in the future - be it for insider trading or from angry employees/unity devs. I'm mostly well enough working on gacha mobile shit that I don't need a new gig, but an old boss really wants me to work on yet another Alone in the Dark and possibly a new game for an old series that I don't want to mention by name.

Worked on a number of the remakes of classic Atari games such as Pong, Asteroids and Missile Command. Did a fuckton of in house and traveling merc work for Atari/Infogrames and affiliated studios for nearly a fourth of my life. Worked at Midway until they filed for Bankruptcy. Eugene Jarvis is a hero and a really great guy to work with. I would ideally give exact games but anyone who did a quick Ctrl-F on the credits could figure out who I am, which ruins the point of semi-anonymity.

This has always felt so strange to me. Usually when you have a big system seller tier title you get a ton of clones with a few great ones, nothing really quite hit the production quality of RE with the sole exception of SH.

Looks like they pulled the original on Steam in favor for the newly remastered. I hate when they do that, even if I managed to get it before it disappeared it still sucks when it happens
