This probably has one of the most 'evil' storylines I can think of, but it's NG+ only and it was so evil and grim that I didn't like playing it. You had characters who were your allies in the main 'good' story get mindbroken and go evil or die horribly, it was too much for me as a hardcore moralfag lover. I'm sure some people would enjoy it though, it was a novelty to me at least.

Most of the evil stuff happens offscreen as the mc sleeps and Gig takes over. The time jumps really ruins it.

The ending changes is you are a jerk with your former friends, and they even kill you in one ending if you lose against them in one of the last battles. Other "friends" betray you without any reason. Really a depressing videogame if you believe in happy endings or if you believe in true friendship.

Acquire created Tenchu, but they didn't own the IP, so they created a bunch of games instead of sequels, including the spiritual successor Shinobido series.

Shinobido is retro (although there was a Vita sequel). I meant directly following on from Tenchu (1 & 2), they ended up making Way of the Samurai, and a bunch of other games, including Shinobido.
