Despite everything, I think the console's pretty neat. Besides the usual recommendations, what games do you guys like to recommend to people, or just really enjoy?

Love both of the Goemon games, Aerofighters Assault, Top Gear Rally, and Space Station Sillicon Valley.

This might sound crazy today, but for some people the kiosk setup for Nintendo 64 at Toys R Us was the first time they had ever seen a 3d video game in motion. Absolutely mind blowing stuff.

>what games do you guys like to recommend to people, or just really enjoy?
Why? So every thread about N64 can be the same? It's always the same twenty games that make every list.

I've recently bough a ton of different retro consoles with everdrives and ODEs, and the N64 is easily the one I've played the most. The others are basically collection dust. Currently playing Goldeneye on Secret Agent and it's fucking hard, not sure if I'll even attempt 00 Agent without cheats

I'm hardly a fan of the N64 but seeing Mario 64 in person for the first time was jaw dropping

>> No.10260434

>>10260337
Basically if you had Goldeneye, every single kid in your neighborhood was now your friend and you didn't even have to buy extra controllers because people would pool what they had so that there would be enough.

Not in Remix at all? Two games on every gems list, rented by everyone, iconic silhoutte, fangamer merch, still got support on DS, the SBK logo is great -- at least needs a stage, but you could easily use the hand and ghost powerups as specials. The board itself could only come out in wing form with the recovery if you don't want to complicate things.

Don't be so hard on the system. There were almost a dozen games worth playing for it. Recommendations are pointless, especially from /zr/. The library is so small you can try everything and decide for yourself.

Master System had even less games and yet people claim it was a beloved system in certain regions, even recently we got a guy spamming SMS threads all over /vr/.
N64 is fine.

>> No.10260589

While there are some flaws to the game, fighters destiny has a fairly unique and interesting scoring system. There are throws and knockdowns that instantly end the round and grant points.

I was fortunate to grow up with both the PSX and N64 so I got the best of both worlds really
Now the N64 library was a lot smaller, but I do feel it has higher highs.

Eh not really

They both have most of the same best games and ps1 has extras. Doubt you could list 10 that beat ps1's library and even then you're probably trolling

Robotron 64 is a game I'm surprised it never gets discussed, it's a damn fine game and highly recommended for those that like arcade-style games.

Just ordered carts of Turok 1 and 2. Fucking hyped. Next up, Turok 3, Armorines: Project SWARM and BattleTanx.

That's on my to buy list. Love Robotron and a "modernized" version sounds awesome. How are the controls though?

Works fine with the analog and c buttons but you can use two controllers for twin stick goodness.
As a tip, the game doesn't really start until you reach floor 50, everything before that is just a warm up to earn extra lives.

Nice, thanks for the info, Anon. I play a fuckton of Robotron on my GBA.

This is a game I'd read about in previews leading up to the N64's release but never had seen in stores. Was it a UK only release?

Gauntlet is an awesome 4-player party game. Buck Bumble was pretty fun, there's even a multiplayer. Ken Griffey Jr. Baseball was a big hit. I always wanted to play Jet Force Gemini. The Tony Hawk Pro Skaters are also pretty fun and super classic, especially for the soundtrack.

Alright /vr/, Bowser just put you in charge of overseeing the NA variant of the N64 Mini. As a special bonus, the 20th game will be a previously unreleased game updated to run at 100% of the Expansion Pak's spec. Choose wisely.

Cabbage

n64 is still the GOAT multiplayer console, but its rather lacking for single player stuff, outside of 2-3 dozen games

still has arguably the strongest 1st/2nd oarty out of any nintendo console
