Cool power ups. Being able to weaponize coins is rad. Tackling things is awesome. Wario is cool.

SML3: loved this game. awesome for GB. but I do think it kind of declines a bit after the first half.
VB: haven't played
WL2: played it, got lost, lost interest. will come back to it, sometime, maybe
WL3: absolute kino, but the backtracking is just evil, even more so if you're playing the aftergame. I use savestates, you'd need a patience of a saint to 100% it otherwise. still, this is about as good as puzzle / platformers ever got.
WL4: good, but just a little disappointing. way more style, but not as much substance. great if you haven't played 2/3 before.

Played it recently, only the first game for now. Great game, wondering why it isn't appreciated as much as Zelda and 6 golden coins.

Nintendo's most underrated series.

maybe the gameboy game is put the most hours into as a lad. a good time. never got the best ending.

It's fine but later WL games are a lot better

Wario Land 1 at least was a superb parallel and subversion to the Mario series at the time.
>Coins aren't just for points/1-Ups, they're essential to the endgame
>Hearts are the actual points/1-Ups
>Wario doesn't jump on enemies, he outright attacks them
>The final boss was actually a woman, who would normally be the one you rescue
>Wario could ground pound, a move that would later arrive in the Mario series
>Wario's method of attack is also a movement essential to progressing some of the trickier parts of the game
>Back to Syrup, she's not really an anti-Peach, but the anti-Lady, this is the first game you play as Wario vs. Donkey Kong with Mario
>The Genie is DK, Syrup using him for her own deeds. You technically rescue him from her and you get your castle as a reward
>VB Wario Land is the only real sequel to Wario Land 1, the other games are radically different in design
Best part is none of this is explained, it's more or less what you see when you treat Wario as Mario's mirror. Then the rest shows itself.

Why are Nintendo characters so lame by comparison to everything else? Wario isn't cool, gross or evil. He can't be anything and I don't understand how people shit on bubsey but this charisma vacuum gets a pass.

If you're going to emulate it, change the color palette to something other than searing red. The game actually looks quite nice then.

I love them. Wario is the best character from the Mario franchise.

best entries are the original and Virtual Boy Wario Land; 2 is dull as hell; if if you swear by 3, you most likely didn't have access to Super Metroid or Symphony of the Night as a kid; 4 is fairly mediocre but did give us Warioware, so there's that
