I think they're all great in their own right, Dead Aim is in my top five even.

>> No.10251629

Dead Aim is the only good one

>> No.10251643

Out of those, Dead Aim for sure. Outbreak just feels like a half-assed RE clone than an actual RE game. Gun Survivor is terrible.

Dead Aim looks a bit wonky for sure, subtitles don't match the voice overs, but it has a very interesting atmosphere and there is some exploration to it.

How many survivor games were there?
>Survivor
>Survivor 2
>Survivor Dinos

Is that it? Just 3 games? Wonder if Night Dive studios could remake them?

>PS2 ecsluvies

Seems baffling really. Outbreak would have been perfect for OG Xbox. They should have been releasing these on Xbox at least too.

it's so different, I don't really consider it. It's more like halfway to RE4.

it'd sell poorly like the GameCube games, and at least the japanese buy Nintendo consoles

it's funny how resident evil started on the PS1 and had the original trilogy, yet the PS2 just got spinoffs + ports of code veronica and 4.

>it'd sell poorly like the GameCube games,

They actually sold really well... for non-first party games on a Nintendo console. It wasn't spuer clear at the time, but the N64 separated gamers into two camps: Nintendo fans and everyone else. Nintendo fans play Nintendo games and little else. As such, the RE Gamecube games were good sellers, and would have sold 1-3 million more copies had they gotten Xbox and PS2 Releases.

It was Mikami and Capcom's boneheaded move to make them Gamecube or PS2 exclusives. They just thought RE fans would buy gamecubes just for RE when most fans weren't that dedicated.

Really, REmake, 0, and Re4, would have been perfect for the xbox since the console was in fact stronger than the Gamecube and would have handled the games without issue. The Xbone's more American fanbase would have also been more receptive than Nintendo fanbase as well. I think the lack of Xbox ports is utterly inexcusible. PC Ports weren't standard at the time, so that's at least excusible.

The 2016's re-releases of these games caught Capcom off-guard by how well they sold and it's just them finally getting a non-nintendo fanbase. The PS2 eclusives should have gotten the same treatment, and since they're 3D it'd be even easier to port!

1. They were in cash cow pump out sequels fast mode. They also thought that RE was big enough to be a system seller, so people would literally buy different consoles for it which is why Sega and then Nintendo courted them. CV was literally outsourced and it REALLY feels like it. They created the Survivor and then Outbreak side-series.

2. Mikami was put in charge of the series as producer which might have been a bad idea - Fujiwara kept him on a bit of a leash and left Capcom. Mikami was fascinated with the Gamecube and wanted it to be the main home of RE since he rightly felt it was a stronger better designed console than the PS2. Nintendo also courted them with an exclusivity deal and funding.

Looking back, even if they were gimped the PS2 should have gotten the Cube games.

3. Mikami had some bad experiences with the Xbox and supposeldy didn't understand it or it wasn't sold to him so he ignored it.

4. The series started to slump and part of it was just too many games/sequels, spread out to too many developers. They should have cancelled CV, 0, and a handful of others.

Combine these and you get the situation.

they sold less then Code Veronica and Resident Evil 4 on the ps2, what are you rambling about

>> No.10251864

They sold well for RE titles on the GameCube. They expected 5 million sales like the PlayStation which was utterly delusional. Had they gotten PS2 ports they would have sold an additional 1-3 million. The 2016 ports sold really well because they were cross platform:

2002:
>Resident Evil 0
>1.25 million sales

2016:
>Resident Evil 0: HD Remaster
>3.8 million sales

Total lifetime sales:
>5.05 million sales

Which is very solid amount of sales. Just took it fucking 15+ years to reach it!

Outbreak also sold well given it was an Online only console on a console that didn't by default have online. Xbox and PC should have been the target consoles:

2003:
>Resident Evil Outbreak
>1.45 million

It's what a big check signed by Nintendo can do to a series

The truth is this was really the very start of the whole "exclusivity deals" shenanigans, so publishers hadn't ironed out the quirks yet.
People from that era like to talk about "exclusives" in full revisionism mode for pre-6th gen, but exclusivity deals the way 6th and 7th gens had weren't a thing before.

nah exclusivity deals were always a thing, the terms changed over time but we know this from various leaked internal docs. Kaz Hirai was on stage in 2001 talking about timed exclusivity deals /v/ shits their pants over today they had over games like silent hill 2 and MGS2. Before they even released we knew they weren't PS2 only titles.

ask about sega users about tomb raider 2, tomb raider 3, resident evil 2 and other ports.

Sony paid those companies to prevent saturn versions.

The only thing i did not liked about the outbreak one is that is hard as hell to get the infinite bullets mode in they both. besides of that, they have great music and gameplay.

Except we know from interviews Capcom wanted to do a Saturn port of RE2; and only reason it didn't happen is because the devs convinced the suits to make their own game instead (Code Shitonica)
