Random question: is the Legend of Zelda manga worth reading? No one ever talks about it, but they did comics for so many of the games. Has it just been forgotten, or is none of it really that good?

They vary in quality and have no real impact on the series so there's no real reason to discuss them, plus a lot of them just make up random story elements like shitty original characters and plot elements that don't fit in with the games

Someone on /a/ storytimed them a month or so back. They're ok. If you like TP that one got the most love with several volumes and fleshing out a few things. It ripped off a lot from Berserk though.

I loved the Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask manga, the mangakai took some creative liberties and made up backstories for Volvagia the dragon and the Majora mask, really makes them shine in his telling of the events.

They contradict the games so much I lose interest. Twilight Princess had nice art but it's basically the writers own version of the story and characters. I didn't like the way it began in the twilight realm and they basically assume anyone reading it already played the game and they throw you curve balls with changes to the story as it goes along.

I really like the OOT one, though my all time favorite and the only really soulfull one is Ataru Cagiva's Link's Awakening. Fuck Nintendo for never releasing it outside of Japan but instead flooding us with the crappy ones.
Picrel is a color double-page of it that I restored (took me many hours so enjoy, /vr/os), along with a full restoration of the two volumes I made for a french translation.

They're not terrible, but it's best to go in knowing they're adaptations and can differ from the games quite a bit, and obviously not canon. You wouldn't believe the amount of people who think officially licensed manga means they're 100% canon.
