Did the Resident Evil games on the gamecube always have this weird looking green hue over everything?

>> No.10238084

Yeah I think there's just some quirk in how the Gamecube reads bitmaps

Did the gamecube versions of REmake, 0 and 4 have something similar?

I've played 2 and didn't notice it, the hue in picrel might have come from capture card whoever made it was using

Yeah, that's the gamexubes texture compression

It's not the GC version that looks wrong, it's the Dreamcast version. They fucked up the conversion of the backgrounds.

The Dreamcast version of RE2 has a pink hue caused by RGB 555 to RGB 888 colour space conversion.

Resident Evil 3 seems to looks the same across all versions except for some differences in background resolution and compression

>> No.10238398

If you want your gamecube games to actually skew green, then pick up a Wii U and use nintendont in Wii mode. It's a special hardware feature that forever celebrates the year of Luigi

I believe the pink hue was also an issue in the original PC port that the Dreamcast version was based on. It doesn't seem to be an issue with the newer SourceNext PC port using the Classic REbirth patch and toggling between RGB 555 and RGB 888 in the launcher doesn't make a difference.

He sucks at everything. The "puzzle kacho" thing is just a narrative they came up with. I haven't seen the Zelda episode but for Dragon Quest it was obvious they were telling him where to go and what to do even when it wasn't told on camera, for instance he knew the "70 steps south, 40 steps east" clue for the item located in the swamp despite not having rescued the princess yet (and she's the one that tells you that). Even in something as simple as DQ he was constantly making stupid moves and mistakes like using an herb to heal 30 HP when the enemy deals 40 anyway, all to flee in the end. Anyone with a brain would have known to flee from the start.

Nah it's definitely the Gamecube version that's got something wrong. The PS1 version colors are closer to the Dreamcast.

It's really jarring how inconsistent the pre-rendered background resolution is in the PC version.

>> No.10240145

RE3 is best on Gamecube. The PC version has some nice high res backgrounds but the sound effects and FMVs are both compressed to shit. The PC and Dreamcast versions also still have the vertex wobbling of the Playstation original for some reason. Any color discrepancies is a result of the capture card used.

This looks more like a quirk of Component cables
happens on PS2 as well
