Genesis or SNES version? Give your honest thoughts.

Both are great games in their own ways.

They're both fun, but only the Genesis version is a genuine classic. It's also the best Scooby-Doo game.

true. The Genesis version was a point-and-click with no game overs, while the Super NES version was more of a platformer with chances of getting a game over.

I'm okay with game overs but some of the gameplay in the SNES version is pretty cheap. The fright meter is gay. It also has fewer character animations and is just a lazier game

plus bonus games like the sandwich maker (stage 1 and 2 with the kitchens and stage 4 with the smallest kitchen being just a refrigerator) and the whack-a-mole esque game with monsters.

Plus the second stage bonus where Shaggy and Scooby have to ride on the slide without getting hit by dangerous spikes, though if you jump over the exit sign, you get a secret cache of Scooby Snacks to deplete your fright meter.

Genesis version is a fun adventure game

SNES version is a shovelware pseudoplatformer

I've been very surprised to see multiple threads about these games recently. I always chalked this up to being another one of those middling to bad licensed games my dumb ass played as a kid because I couldn't stop watching Cartoon Network.
I actually remember liking the SNES one quite a bit. I never knew there was a Genesis version, or that it was different. Maybe I should revisit one or even both for Halloween.

Scooby Dooby Doooo-ooooo!

This should've been point n click too.
Just like in actual show, B&B do nothing but slacking around, picking up random garbage and watching tv (for the clues).

And they should've been immune to damage or at least highly resistive to it since they are idiots.

the Genesis game looks like a SCUMM game, with a DOTT inspired wonky art style. This is also a game that had a bad wrap for its degrading music. But the audio is something that was emulated incorrectly.

It's pretty neat for a point and click adventure game on the Genesis/ MD.

i was playing the snes game a few moments ago and was enjoying it so far (got to the carnival level).
One thing that really sucks is that one single enemy can almost fill the entire fright meter.

Imagine if the Genesis version of Scooby Doo Mystery was much like the Super NES version, only with Daphne in her signature purple instead of a reddish brown, plus a couple extra levels beyond the Shipwreck, Carnival, Swamp and the Mansion stages, as well as more character animations.

I think it is the head bob and mouth movements when the characters talk makes it look like those SCUMM games of yore. The artstyle and music of the Genesis Scooby Doo game definitely nails down the feel of some of my most beloved point & click adventure games from Lucasarts. I had no idea the audio was bad, since it sounded a lot like Soundblaster music similar to what I heard in those same Lucasarts games, but that's just most others don't like Yamaha sounds.
