Imagine you've made the best stealth videogame in the home console market, a homage to classic American spy flicks tinged with crazy nipponese sci-fi stuffs. Then some people decide that they are going to do more than just translate it, but they're also going to leave in horrible Engrish typos for no reason and remove 30% of the dialogue and then also port it to nes where it barely resembles the same game. In mg2 the map radar doesn't work when you need it most i.e. when youve been spotted it's just a tool you can't fucking literally play the game using it, because you would die anytime you got spotted. NES version was also fun desu. I had heart attack when Snake got thrown into jail when I was kid. I thought I managed to do something big. I was just walking around aimless until that time and finally the game has shown me some way to progress. It was exciting. There was this new zealandian show playing on the TV about amazon forests or something where a group of people were trying to survive dangerous biome of the jungle (??). Lets be real here. The reason was Kojima thought it would be cool to have a sudden twist where your boss is actually a bad guy, like how the CIA guy in Rambo 2 turned out to be evil. He just never bothered to think about if it made sense. Given in Metal Gear 2 he used the Colonel for Campbell, and the HALO jump in Metal Gear Solid 3, he was obviously familiar with the series.

Ok, yeah now in 2023, but when the game was released, it was definitely the best stealth videogame ever made. And idk what's wrong with your brain, but it's still plays bready gud, almost identical to ghost babel.

Got the release off GoG that was based on the MSX release, and it was good. I had a real fun time, was able to complete most of it without a guide. I had to look up about calling the girl on the radio and also where to find the disguise.

I couldn't find a MG2 release on GoG, but I got blueMSX going though it's kind of cumbersome to use especially setting up the save media. Most people just say to use save states instead of going through the trouble. I might wait until the collection release later this year to try MG2 properly.

Gray fox was playing along and not actually captured. Snake was sent in specifically to die and panic the UN, and was given shit info on purpose the whole time like the whole gas mask thing.
