I only know this movie for that one scene at the diner, and Lost Highway for that creepy scene with the devil (?). Didn't bother watching both films though, because I have a hunch those are the only parts of them worth a damn.

agreed but they are still enjoyable. weirdness for the sake of weirdness is still entertaining and interesting if done well. the first season of twin peaks was amazing, but the second was terrible. it was painfully obvious that he had no idea what he was actually doing, so when he was forced to provide more concrete answers the entire thing fell apart. his style works much better for movies. but yeah, the dorks who study his work as if it is some kind of esoteric philosophy are super cringe.

Why does he make you so fucking mad? Serious question. I've been browsing /tv/ for some time now and I came to the conclusion that Lynch is their equivalent of Nintendo. Calling someone an "anti-intellectual" assumes you are an intellectual to begin with. In fact, the one thing you should always, always be sceptical of is Man's rationality and reasoning. David Lynch's films are nothing more than an exercise in pretentiousness, any "lessons" or "meanings" you can gleam from them are entirely in your own head, and make little sense at best.

To keep this vaguely /vr/ related, that group of weirdos had a huge mansion in the middle of nowhere about half an hour outside of Kansas City when I was a kid. They called it the World Peace Capital or something like that. No one really knew about any of this at the time though and there were a ton of wild rumors about the place. I was convinced it must be hiding some kind of lab or other secret facility after playing Resident Evil.
