What is the best kind of TV for this thing? 720p LCD? 4:3 and interlaced? 480p CRT?

I have an HDMI upscaler with mine and it looks beautiful on my 1080p tv
It would probably look really good on a widescreen CRT though, using the HD composite

If you're using progressive scan then you may as well play the PC ports of its games. For me, it's composite.

480p crt, but the best options for joe everyman would be a computer monitor so you're looking into some type of adapter situation. Even then, not absolutely everything supports 480p, some things like the boot up run at 480i so it's not a win across the board.

>An unmodified Xbox will also only output 480i via SCART, making it a poor cable choice for this console. In almost all cases, it’ll be better to play your Xbox on a TV that supports at least 480p and even people with high quality 15KHz RGB monitors will only get a low-quality 480i signal with a stock Xbox.
You need to do a pretty complex hardware mod for RGB scart to look good on the xbox.

I'm installing a modchip anyways so the thing isn't a brick when the original drive inevitably fails. Removing and cleaning that thing is just an extra step. Also running scripts for the 1.6 RGB/component compatibility is a pain to work through.

Very nice setup.
I've had mine plugged into a plasma via Component cables, and also into CRT via Component. I like the look of both. Might stick with CRT just because it's more convenient (where all my other consoles will hook up to), but wouldn't begrudge either. Probably one of hte few consoles that looks good on both HD and SD TVs out of the box.

CRT was still the standard back when Xbox launched in 2001-02. Did you know even the first iteration of the Xbox 360 didn't have HDMI output? So even the Xbox 360 was designed first and foremost to be viewed via analogue output.

No, you need to use that tool that extracts the xiso and patches the xbe file.

>> No.10222276

>>10222274
Normally I just dump the XISO using XDVDMulletter.

There are a very small few Xbox games that deliberately have filenames that the Xbox's XFAT file system can't read, which is an anti-copying measure (the last two Tony Hawk games are like this). For those you have to do something special with them (I had to burn then rip them from a DVD using DVD2Xbox to get them to dump in such a way that made them compatible).
