ITT: bosses that piss you the fuck off, plain and simple

Playing Guardian Legend for the first time and even though I've collected every powerup available to me this motherfucker feels impossible, has killed me over ten times now. Doesn't help that after finally caving in and looking up what strategy other people use it's just going inside his hurtbox using a small DPS weapon and praying the RNG lets his health depletes before yours.

Sonic 2's 1st boss on Game Gear... I never got past the 1st zone of this title as a kid, because they had to put the Game Gear version in compilations instead of the Master System version that had a proper resolution, this boss was made 10x worse due to the screen crunch.

It is not just screen crunch. In the Master System version, most bosses have unfinished behavior, lacking attacks or not being able to reach certain parts of the screen properly. In this one's case, it's orbs can only bounce at the lowest possible pattern in the Master System version, while in the Game Gear one, orbs have several bounce height patterns with them being chosen randomly.

Indeed, I noticed that aswell when playing the Master System version, it should'be been the other way around, with the bombs bouncing low on Game Gear and in different heights on Master System, anyways that version is way better due to the higher resolution, probably one of my favorite Sonic installments actually... except when Tails dies if you don't get the emeralds.

Compile was an amazing developer. It's a crime against Japan that they went defunct. I wish they would get their properties back or work for Sega so they can work on their own IPs.

The closest thing to that happeneing, ever, again, was Puyo Puyo 20th.
