Is the analog stick placement really that bad on the RG353V? Been trying to decide between that one and the RG353P. Really love the look/size of the V but the P might be more comfortable for some games.

yeah, for GC/PS2 Odin (Lite) is the lowest you want to go, and Deck is ideal (with the caveats of an x86 handheld, namely battery life and weight).
We don't really have great GC/PS2 on the "normal" handhelds yet. Maybe with different chipsets we can get a Linux handheld that can play them pretty soon.

they're game boys. They have almost no mechanical parts, they aren't old enough to seriously need recapped, and they were built well from the start so parts don't often fail anyway. I don't see why you would suspect them of being busted unless you saw overt screen damage. Maybe also if you saw that the power switch was clogged with dirt, but not from those pics. I get your point, it's vintage hardware at this point, a piece of history, modifying it feels like you're breaking it in a way, it's no longer that classic console as it was back then... but if someone's still using it and prefers it over the new options, I also get it, Game Boy screens were garbage before the SP... Received a BSP-D6 bluetooth controller that was shilled here a few threads back.
The controller feels very light and feels quite good to hold it. Right stick gets in thek way when pressing face buttons. Face buttons feel mushy and have minimal travel.
D-pad is slippery, wobbly and mushy. Shoulder pads feel all right.
When shaking it, the sticks rattle a little but that's all the noise from it.
The sticks feel like they have too much tension and it feels difficult to control them precisely.
I didn't notice much input lag but only tested with some snes platformers.

About what I expected for 20€ shipped. It does the job but isn't anything fancy

The Game Gear and Atari Lynx both blew the Gameboy out of the fucking water in terms of technology and playability, but the Gameboy succeeded because of price. Just in terms of raw battery life while emulating, Deck gets better battery life than all the RK3566 devices emulating the same games due to a much larger battery. The 7840u in the Win Mini actually still has worse battery efficiency 10w and below. its bait too big for my pockets and the sticks make it a pain to slip in and out easily. brightness is okay in sunlight but it could be better. What really looks good in the sun is the Analogue pocket not sure if the screen is that much brighter or if its the glass they use but that screen is perfectly clear even in the powerful Texas sun

GCN is quite a bit easier to emulate than PS2. You can run maybe a little over 50% of GCN at fullspeed on a T618 vs like 25% of PS2.
