I'm happy LS dropped the whole 'We're translating the title of the episode' shit they tried with the Legend of Valkyrie.
On the other hand, I'm getting a massive case of blue balls over the fact they haven't subbed Journey to Silius and when the CCs are there.
It had one of the funniest intros for a Tamage in the shows history.

I started watching season 14 this week, man the Paris Dakar Rally episode was great. The game seems so ridiculous and the reactions to what they had to do each different level was really fun.

As for what's left.
We got the 3 episodes of Super Mario RPG, 2 episodes of Earthbound (Which makes me doubt they'll sub this because they'd have to sub one episode themselves.) Meikyuu Jiin Dababa and Journey to Silius.

Doubt what? You still can't use DeepL for translations, which is pretty much currently the best online translator, unless you actually have a mastery of the language. Even on something like French > English it will shit out something wrong or not quite right 30-40% of the time and it gives you something fucked up with Japanese > English about 70-85% of the time... In the context of subs
The issue with subs of shows is that the translator has no fucking context for a lot of things happening, so it's way more wrong than if you put a book snippet or online news, which is usually written in the cleanest way possible

The only positive about the monitor is the Aquos series is designed to minimize lag using what they call "vyper drive", whatever the fuck that is. The duality of the Kacho.

Another thing to keep in mind, any professional operation has every incentive to use current and easily replaced hardware. CRT would be better, but then they need to constantly be on the hunt for good condition CRTs that still work so the moment it goes down it can be replaced. They are already at the mercy of old consoles and cartridges suddenly going tits up on them, they probably don't want another failure point to worry about. Better to have new and current hardware that you can buy spares of easily.

Doing it all in order makes sense for shows that have some meaningful progression between episodes, but that doesn't really apply here unless you're really into the staff changes or the Kibe segments.

Regular translations dwindled so the backlog became huge over time. When newer groups appeared there were a lot of episodes to choose from so translators picked ones they liked, either because they were great episodes or they liked the game or whatever. Some of the more boring or high effort episodes naturally got shafted.

EWJ in particular has a reputation as a meh episode, despite the weird theories associated with it. Klonoa also had a bad reputation but it actually got translated recently. It may have been CCed though, and I've seen worse episodes.

I guess I don’t follow along enough with the Game Center drama, earthworm Jim and Klonoa have bad reputations? The game or the episodes? And CC being close captioned? The email field?

>The game or the episodes?
The episodes.
>And CC being close captioned
Yeah. As far as I understand it, the group making releases as of late has been basing timing and translations to an extent on the supplied closed captions. So they'll basically do episodes they can get with captions, such as Klonoa.

IIRC the criticism of the Klonoa episode was that it was edited in a way that spent a lot of time on cutscenes and story and much less on actual gameplay.

>IIRC the criticism of the Klonoa episode was that it was edited in a way that spent a lot of time on cutscenes and story and much less on actual gameplay.

They've done that for all the story heavy PS/SS era games. Resident Evil 1, 2, Metal Gear Solid.

If they do MGS2 I hope they introduce the cardboard boxes to Arino as it's entirely possibly he never used them. They did it for the promo gag, yet not ONCE did he use it in-game!

Are you that faggot who tried to translate the episode and then gave up before you even reached the first segment?

Also news flash, Earthworm Jim was a boring episode. Don't fall into the Ocarina of Time trap, but given you're already injecting your politics into a apolitical show about video games. that's too late.

Interesting enough, Klonoa doesn't have CC looking at the big torrent, so unless LS has access to CC that haven't been released yet, they translated it the old fashion way.

do all recent eps use those fancy subs? Only about 30% of this stuff works correctly on my TV, it's quite annoying. Either they don't show up at all or they're completely broken.

> Season 19 Mini Corner 1: "DJ Monster" - Arino places bets on Monster Rancher fights featuring scans from pairs of J-POP songs.

The Pastebin shows what the mini corners are. And yeah, the most creative and interesting corners are the ones where they actually use retro games in their intended manner. Also this is why I don't agree with the concept that you should sub the eps by the game, as the mini-corners and side segments are just as interesting if not more. I originally saw the show as "Let's Play game challenge and other shit" then after a bit I realized it's a Variety show, and "Arino's Challenge" is just one segment among many.

My favorite mini-corners:

>"DJ Monster" - Monster Rancher
>"The Hall of Fortune-Telling Games" - Astrology PlayStation games
>"Barcode Gambler"
>"Quiz Famionaire"
>"KACHO × FAMILY"

They could do a playstation and saturn platformer each season and never run out. I do think they need to do a few more 5th gen and 6th gen. But the show is aimed at Japanese and Japanese nostalgia is built around FC/SFC. Saturn and PCE had cult followings but nowhere near as big as those two. mega Drive was basically nothing.

They're doing a lot of those "adventure" focused 3D games on PS1/PS2, and they don't make very good challenges. At least the way they show them. Lots of focus on cutscenes which they show off, and you kinda can't fail if you just keep blasting forward. Mario 64 and other collectathons have this issues too. Resident Evil 2, Ico, MGS, end up being lackluster challenges when some jank 2D game like China Warriors ends up being hilarious and fun because it's so stupid.

I think they did the last season of almost entirely Mega Drive games with only a single SFC game as a bit of an experiment. I would like to see a PCE season next. They have a LOT of platformer jank.

>> No.10205467

>> No.10205479

>>10205467
I think they've exhausted most of the most notable platformers, and those are the most interesting to challenge. Granted, they have endless amounts of rpgs, strategy games, sim games, sports games, mahjong games, horse games, board games, etc but are those fun to actually play? I think them hitting shit like New York Nyankies shows they're scraping the bottom of the barrel. Hense why we saw a M3 (master system) game in ages, and that whole season of 80% Mega Drive.

Now personally? I'd love at least one more Horse betting episode since those are neat but I am likely in the minoriyt.

Also if you want more variety, make a suggestion here and there.
