I remember about a decade ago when I was going through the N64 library looking for good third-party exclusives (aside from Mischief Makers) and I discovered this game. It's surprisingly good, up there with the Midway racers. Maybe even better

Good fun party game also enjoyable solo, multiplayer battles or long adventurous courses with hidden shortcuts and Easter eggs across multiple themes, on track collectibles and unlockable shit like the police car.

Few games evoke the word “gay” as a pejorative than this game does when I look at the box art and gameplay, I genuinely can’t think of a better descriptor, especially on a console that has some genuinely great racing games

this game is wild. the tracks are so long its bananas. but they're packed with a lot of shit so its pretty awesome. that said I wish you only had to do 1 or 2 laps per course. 10 minutes for one race feels pretty excessive

I don't think so. This is a common opinion. Trendy "retro gamers" who think they're hot shit because they only play platformers like their e-celebs and because they beat Castlevania once using 36 continues and holy water spam, calling any type of sports game "shovelware".
The reality is that the hardest NES games aren't "Contra" or "Castlevania", they're racing games like Motocross Champion and Micro Machines or even Rad Racer.
