GOEMON TIME!

I just started playing MN starring Goemon again after a lot of time since I last did a playthrough, like in 2007, god damn this game is fun as always, exquisite design, it makes me mad to know I will probably never play a Goemon game like this again since the original team is all scattered and doesn't exists anymore in Konami, as far as I know.

I just got through the Ghost Toys Castle, I always loved how surreal and trippy that level was (yeah I know, that's something you can say about the whole game). The pool table, the crane machine, the shogi pieces floating on water... this game pours creativity all the time, it's almost shocking after playing so many uninspired games.

Anyway, yeah, I'm having the time of my life replaying this, I shouldn't have waited this long... I remember last time I played it, in 2007, I said "This game is GOAT, I shouldn't play it too often to not wear it out", but honestly, it's one of those games I should annually do a whole playthrough, it's not that long anyway.
Last year I finished Great Adventure for the first time though, 100% with all entry passes, it was also one great game. I need to play the older ones to completion.

That's true. Everything in the game has so much charm to it, despite the low polygon count and basic textures. The sound is amazing for an early N64 title too.

I always do a full completion of the game, and always get a "feel" when I have to go into space to beat the game and it tells me I can never return to the earth. The game's world is so brilliant it's hard to turn your back on it.

I introduced mydaughter to this game when she was very young and she loved it, despite having all kinds of questions about everything (naturally). We then found a rare copy of the sequel in a local store (never played it before) and beat it together in co-op. A lot harder than the first game but absolutely top quality.

It saddens me that we will never see a game like this on a modern console, Goemon or not.

I wish the DS game was translated into English, my Japanese just isn't good enough for me to appreciate it fully.

Thankfuly, I can't remember the ending in detail so I'm going to enjoy it almost as a new experience again now... but I can remember how Goemon and the gang were "rewarded" by all the girls they rescued... hahaha.

Man, playing the Goemon games with your little daughter, what a hero!
And yeah, it must be hard to explain certain weird stuff in the game to a kid, just out of curiosity, what kind of questions does she make about the game?
I remember on an old Nintendo magazine I had in the 90s, they did a note on this game, and they mentioned how one of the characters refers to other as "Okama" (when Goemon calls Baron a "weirdo!"), but they said parents shouldn't be worried because the game didn't included any really "strange characters" or something shady like that, hah... what they didn't clear up is that okama means queer.

I have such great memories of going to a friend's house and playing this game. Neither of us ever owned it, he'd just rent it occasionally and call me over. Then the sequel came out and he bought it day one.

I heard it's not really well emulated.

using both impact and miss impact is great, but I only played alone, couldn't try the co-op yet... I bet it's amazing to play that with a friend.

I believe so, because N64 emulation is generally unstable, but I believe MN starring Goemon works better than GGA.
