No robots, humans require potions you buy to increase their HP, strength, and agility (they cannot increase their mana stat), and if a character dies they lose a life (each character starts with three and you can purchase more but lives are expensive). If you like FFLI or II and haven't played the other then I suggest doing so since they're short games and there's enough differences in character growth mechanics, party building, and the setting.
