I remember a long time ago thinking this was the worst game I had ever played.
I don't really remember, but how bad is it?

Pretty much it's like Sonic 3D Blast but slower and you collect keys instead of Flickies. Personally I don't hate it, if it was anything besides a Sonic game most people would probably enjoy it, admittedly though it's far from what most people would expect from a proper Sonic game

It's sorta like a shitty fusion of Sonic 3D blast and Kirby's Dream Course. Inferior to both, but enjoyable once you figure out the physics of the spindashing. I love this sloppa game. Reminds me of comfier times.

Not bad for the reasons you hear about online, but the invincibility effect damn near killed me.

I think the worst part of it, ironically, a fact it's a portable game. I can't see shit in such small resolution and always get lost in the mazes because I can't see some platforms moving at the edge of screen or remember where did I came from.

This creates a lot of unneccessary confusion. Otherwise, a 6/10 game. GG Sonic 2 and Blast were way worse.

The only good 8 bit Sonic is the Master System one, rest is shit.

SEGA hurt the Sonic brand so much by releasing garbage after garbage

It's not a BAD game, it just has no reason to be a Sonic game. And yeah, the tiny view distance due to being on gamegear makes it that much harder to play.

The early Game Gear games WERE Master System ports, Sega of Japan was the culprit set on replacing Master System with Game Gear. The later Brazilian Master System versions by Tec-Toy are Game Gear ports, though, and they were pretty lackluster since by that point the hardware was taken advantage of better; Spinball and Mean Bean are still arguably better, but then again, why even play these in 8-bit form when these were meant to be played in 16-bits?
