Sf2000 finally arrived in the mail.
-No audio jack unless you own a 2.5mm RCA to 3.5mm audio converter (does such a thing even exist? A 2.5mm to 3.5mm converter doesn't work as it tries to transmit video signal on an audio channel)
-Charging cable is too short to comfortably play handheld while charging (only 30 inches)
-No way to turn off the menu music without dicking around with system files, and even then it plays faint static
-Button mapping doesn't support select, start, d-pad, stick, button combinations, or much of anything other than turbo
-In game saves don't work, you're limited to 4x save state slots instead
-Game search doesn't have a button for the space bar, but searching for things like "STREETFIGHTER" still works as it should. Game search doesn't directly tell you what system you're looking at, you have to guess from the artwork
-Games with long names don't scroll, so trying to figure some things out is annoying. Like, searching for "STREETFIGHTER" brings up a ton of games, and it's annoying trying to figure out which is "New Challengers" or "Turbo" or whatever
-Can't change any emulator settings at all
-Can't change any MAME dip switch settings, like how many coins per game, difficulty, timers, ect.
-Can't get the damn micro sd card in and out without a knife, my finger nails are too short
-No support for cheating via Game Genie or other hax
-Mame support is very limited (no Simpsons)
+Has 4x save state slots, which is more than any other famiclone
+Famicom, MegaDrive, Game Boy, and Game Boy Color emulation are perfect. SNES, GBA, and MAME are 95% perfect after upgrading OS.
+Screen is good (for the price)
+Buttons are good, though you'll want to use the stick for fighting games
++Price is great, at only $16 I've no fear of it being destroyed or stolen given how cheap it is to replace.

Basically the thing is like a bridge between a famiclone and a real retro handheld. I bought it mostly for the novelty.

Oh I forgot to add, upgrading the OS requires downloading an 8gb file that decompresses into a 15gb image that you then need to use the included image writer to special format your memory stick. For whatever reason, you can't just drop the files onto a freshly formatted sd card, which means you can't just download the 100mb os, you need to download everything. Datafrog's website is slow as balls, and the 3rd party hosting I used wasn't much better.

it's actually not reversible. you have to cut little switch that bypasses xmb menu. the little guy that's only pressed when there is umd inside to skip xmb. battery pressing it would prevent xmb from loading. the cables that connect umd mechanisms themselves can be connected back if you shorted one of the wires on the cable (typical laser disc procedure afaik). if not, it might've fried
since i never owned any umds in my life, i felt little remorse in doing it. however if you do wanna save the umd, i recommend replacing just the battery that would into battery compartment

Also some people dicking around with the Batocera custom firmware managed to get a OTG WiFi dongle to work, however Batocera is a dead end as the developer has switched to working on a Koriki custom firmware for the RG35XX instead, since Koriki is a lighter OS than Batocera. The Koriki CFW (and the abandoned Batocera CFW) is currently very in alpha, with random freezes, crashes, and slowdowns, to the point where I'd never recommend anyone use it. On the MM+, wifi is a mixed bag.
1. Retroarch achievements are only registered while you are connected to wifi, no achieving something then reconnecting to wifi later. As the MM+ is a portable handheld, you won't have 24/7 wifi access if you ever leave your house.
2. Retroarch achievements took all the worst aspects of xbox achievements and looked at it as a check list. Most of the lists contain insane challenges that'll take thousands of hours to attain or are pure RNG. Shit is absolute trash.
3. Running Retroarch achievements adds strain to the system, to the point where they become unplayable on most PSX games, so it's SNES and below only. It also drains the battery faster running wifi.
4. Wifi multiplayer is great . . . when it works. You both have to be running the exact same OS, with the exact same emulation core. Some cores will randomly work for wifi with some games but not for others, so you'll have to dick around with settings and use trial and error before you get a game running properly.
5. Wifi multiplayer adds too much strain to the system to work with PSX or similar high end games.
6. Wifi multiplayer can't replicate a link cable, so no trading pokemon.
7. Wifi file transfer requires powershell commands or running software on your pc 24/7, it's less of a hassle to just transfer the micro sd card.
8. Wifi cloud saves are great if you feel like setting it up and for some reason want to play the exact same game on multiple devices. Be aware that save fie de-syncing is an ongoing problem and can destroy your saves.

I've been told the coupons don't work for EU. No idea about any other countries. When you download and run the Temu App for the first time, a spinner appears where you 'luckily' win the grand price, $100 worth of coupons if you 'buy' three items. Buy 3 items, then instantly cancel the order, and you'll get the full refund but keep the coupons. Among the coupons is stuff like $20 off a $50 purchase, $10 off a $25 purchase, $5 off any purchase (but $10 minimum to actually ship the order), and I think $40 off $100 purchase? Something like that. I got a RG35xx for $30, that's all that matters to me.
Also you have to use the deals within 60 minutes of running the app for the first time to get the best deals, so make sure you know what you want to buy before hand. RG35XX is the best budget option, imo. Sf2000 is more toy than handheld. some of the more expensive handhelds might appeal to you if you want psp emulation, but the number of retro handhelds is limited.

I wanna purchase a couple of novelty handhelds but they're just that... novelties. I genuinely don't see me playing anything else besides my SF2000, Retromini, and RG35XX (each of which I have dedicated a specific title to playing on instead of just fiddling with thousands of titles for thirty seconds each, finished SMRPG on the SF2000 and now looking for a Genesis title to focus on, something like Aladdin). I mean the shit I'm looking at are just flat famiclones or famiclones with a fan attaches so I can make the fucking, "I'm a fan on this handheld" joke (that and I love the orange spice colour it comes in, like the GameCube).

What I'm more focused on now is trying to find the ultimate carrying case for both the SF2000 by itself, and for the SF2000 with its two wireless controllers.

I replied to the video with a quote from the very video itself; "I liked it when I forced myself to have fun on it." He literally says he had to find ways to force himself to start enjoying the thing, and recommends everybody buys it specifically to focus on one GameBoy Color title at a time, like playing through Pokemon Yellow then Pokemon Crystal. Just fuck that. It's an over-priced novelty through and through. Anbernig customers have little tolerance for novelty bullshit. I appreciate they wanted to on-up Miyoo by having some Miyoo Mini replacement but they completely misunderstood why anyone wanted the Miyoo Mini to begin with. They just heard, "The Miyoo Mini's too fragile" and focused on making a smaller handheld that was tenfold as durable. All they made was a stupid, over-priced novelty which honestly could have had its price tag cut by two fucking thirds if they just focused on GB/GBC/GBA/GameGear/NES emulation instead of trying to make it play up to PS1. That shit is just so fucking retarded. No one in the fucking world wants to play PS1 games on a one inch 3:2 screen. It could have been a neat $20 device but they went completely full retard with it.

There is absolutely no fucking reason to consider or argue for the third option. No reasonable human being would consider that an option.

the dpad problem that most of these chinkhelds and chink clone controllers suffer from is due to the center pivot of the dpad being too shallow. you can fix an 8bitdo controller simply by swapping its dpad out with one from an actual nintendo controller, no need to duct tape the pcb.

>there are unironic fucking Datafrog shills in this thread right now
I get shitting on Anbernic. But why are you trying to shill “SNES form factor” on $20 e-waste that can’t even play SNES at full speed?
>b-but
I literally OWN one nigger, and it plays Kirby Dreamland at half-speed, despite being one of the four games it shows on the front fucking page. AND it has awful screen-tearing. And unlike other devices, CFW won’t fix it because people don’t know what the chipset is because the chink devs sanded the processors down, so CFW is impossible.

I just gave up and bought an MM+ instead. Will probably buy a 353PS next if I really end up wanting analog sticks for PS1 and end up hating the bertislop form factor. SNES shape is comfy af, but the SF2000 ain’t the place to find it

This is just not true. I use the Windows file explorer and type in ftp://10.0.0.xx and it just works. Using an actual ftp program works better sure, but I've been using it regularly and only have issues when a game is running because it'll be read only.

While I do enjoy the back and forth in these threads, I even enjoy keeping up with all the new stuff that comes out. I've yet to buy a single handheld. Not when I have my superior phones. By the way, when it comes to phone controllers, I really have come to love the razer kishi, the first one, not the second. Its ever so slightly a goofy fit but once I actually played with it, its so fucking comfy. Kind of like an xbox control wrap around. Bought a second one too. Really wish the gamesir bluetooth had slightly better button positioning. (i know i know, still technically chinese product and all, but I bought them all for like 20$ on ebay each, used or opened once so, my money went to a re-seller and not accross the water i suppose) my lg premier pro LTE has become my go to for any games up to GBA, just tried some wonder swan games for the first time in my life and WOW they are so pretty looking! Idk what it is but they just pop and are so aesthetic. Just got done setting up my old LG stylo 5 for n64, psp, and ps1 and some ds games. Someday, I'll have a phone that can do gamecube/ps2. XD

The reason I'd get these mini ones isn't for long sessions where comfort is key but for quick pick up and play. You want something that fits in your pocket and you don't really notice.
The SP still wins, pro of the clamshell protecting screen and whatever in your coat pocket. Also has the form of a mini but opens up a bit bigger and useable.
Hope future china attempts are good. In an ideal world miyoo slaps a modem in theirs and I can ditch the smartphone.

i haven't played video games except smash bros and fifa at stoner friends' houses since like 2006 so this is kinda fun.

The issue is these shills all exists on the same ten websites and report back based on what all of these websites' users are saying about their products. The RG Nano was literally made out of Anbernic's interpretations of why people liked the Miyoo Mini on 4chan, Reddit, Twitter, Tiktok, Instagram, Facebook, and yes Tumblr. Anbernic retardedly only heard overall, "More durable, more small, more available."

If Anbernic made a RG35XX Mini with the same form factor and size as the Miyoo Mini it alone would have been one of the most successful hits in the Chinese retro handheld market. But these ESL shills are divided between ten different websites and their demographic's opinions on these things. clamshells protect the screens too, which i think is useful because a lot of people will be carrying these in their pockets or handbags for quick use at a bus stop or in a 5-10 minute break at work/school. if the v90 had the same chip as a 35xx but was $10 cheaper i bet they would sell a bunch of it.

No because anyone selling an original GBA with an IPS screen is significantly inflating its value with the Geek Squad mentality that they can over-charge ignorant people for basic shit.
If you want a GBA with IPS, it is always best to get the IPS screen yourself for a GBA you already own. Otherwise, it's better to just buy a retro emulation handheld from China.

I think this is the first handheld review I've ever seen where I agree with just about everything, even down to the super obscure screen smudge complaint that I've never seen anyone else even mention. Literally the only point I disagree on is the bit about how the speakers could use more bass. rather, I don't disagree so much that more bass would be even better, but short of the Steam Deck I've never experienced a handheld with so much bass before. Completely BTFOs the bass in stuff like the RG505, RP2+ and 3+, Odin, Win600, etc, all of which already have better bass than the average handheld.

If I was only going to have one handheld I'd choose the 3+ over the 2s, but what I like about 2s over the 3+ is
>lighter and less wide
>4:3 screen
>front firing speakers
>analog triggers
>sticks apparently have more travel and they certainly look nicer
>back and programmable buttons
>stupid brick shape of 2+ was just weirdly loveable
Oh and the price is nice.

DC and PSP emulation is super hacky and frankly inaccurate, but it results in an amazing emulation experience and at least imo at this current time is worth the trade. We used to have super hacky n64 emulators that could run on fucking Pentiums.

Rarely watch those, but it's the first time I see one (rightfully) claim the T618 can't handle GC and PS2 for shit. Was gonna keep it to myself because of that post a few hours ago, but I'm pleasantly surprised with mine about 10 hours in, even if the sticks are absolutely fucked in the exact same way he's shown - with the snapping and deadzone curving exclusively on lower left, which I took for faulty hardware until now. Hoping they fix it, but Gamma might beat them to it anyway.

Mine shipped with overseas rom (which I believe is the standard now?), so dropping their launcher for preinstalled Daijisho was painless. Play Store installed, one or two shady chinkware too, a puzzle game about knocking boxes, few emulators.

While relatively light, you feel the battery weighting down the middle a bit. Maybe I'm just too used to the 353V's better weight balance, but it's not a deal breaker.

Android buttons are a godsend and should become standard moving forward, a few settings buried deep aren't controller friendly but so far nothing you'd change often like brightness or wifi.

Found no screen protector bundled to be a bit cheap, but bought it with the case and applied it instantly so can't comment on oleophobic coating (or the absence of it). The case, as usual, fucking stinks and will take a few weeks left open to be usable. Heard people say Switch Lite cases work too.

The screen size hits a sweet spot for me, haven't noticed backlight bleed like his.

Other than still being too early to judge the d-pad confidently, I agree with that review too, especially on ergonomics and button quality, membranes and travel remind me a bit of dualshocks and shiny finish didn't bother me as much as I thought it would. >>10072845 was right, speakers do MD justice.

Take a hair dryer to it for 5 minutes (don't let any one spot get too hot) then stick it in a corner with an electric fan pointed at it over night. Smell will be 95% gone in the morning.

Android's sneedput lag is caused by defualt kernals in the system itself. It can only be completly reduced with the perfromance kernal in a custom rom. This is why black seraph's android builds are useless. He always falls for the interactive mode meme. Now get a more kino chinktroller. Gamesir x2, backbone, or kishi v2.

New 18s varient just dropped. (Again!)

>start, select, L2/R2, power, and six function buttons - vita orb switches
>L1/R1 - analog switches
>ABXY - stiff rubber membranes
>dpad - ds-lite rubber membrane
>analogs - definitely some sort of non-switch potentiometers. pretty accurate
no bottom-outs
>the screen? definitely an lcd touch screen with some minor ghosting. no glass to break, so no need of a screen protector. other than that, fairly accurate.
the build is solid and heavy. the size is slightly larger than a Nintendo DSi(1cm on the length and width)

There's a comparison between MM+ and RG35XX that some anon posts from time to time in this thread, search for it.

I own both and they're both good, especially RG35XX is a king of value to price ratio. Even better if you manage to snatch it cheaper with help of temu coupons, supposedly it's possible.

For me RG35XX has amazing screen and is nicer to hold overall, but MM+ is of higher quality, has better d-pad (no false diagonals like on Anbernic) and just looks nicer. Screen is not so bright compared to the other, though.
