It's more like an Irem game than a Toaplan game cuz this game is all about pattern memo.

solid shmup, nothing spectacular or unusual

>> No.10098117

It's pretty hard if I remember correctly. If you're new to shmups it might be better to start with something easier like Twinbee or Cotton 100% (or one of my favorites, Keio Flying Squadron)

Over hyped garbage with really bad music.
I love Shooters, but for high pedigree shooters Tatsujin sucks. Everytime I try it I find my self even more disappointed. I want to like it. I just can't .

Blazing Lazers is better.

>> No.10098601

>>10098460
Which vertical shooters from 1988 or earlier are better than Tatsujin.
It's not my favorite game either but saying it's outright terrible is an absurd hyperbole.

Yea, I guess 1988 is pretty early.
However see >>10098465
In North America Blazing Lazers came out the same year as Truxton. And honestly it probably came out in Japan in '89 for Megadrive as well.
You also got Galaga 88'.
It's not terrible. It's just not great.

Gradius II also came out in 1988, and G-Type was released in 1987.
