They try to upscale too much from such low resolution 240p assets. I've played around with the upscales for RE2 and found they don't look too bad when they're downscaled to 480p with the 3D models rendered at the same resolution.

CRTs are ugly, take up a lot of space, make noise, have tiny screens, degrade the quality of the image, and have many other downsides, that's why people give them away for free.

There is precisely one advantage to a CRT and that's latency, but get the right monitor/TV and that's not even an advantage anymore.

You can do it for games like Max Payne 1 (2001) and Mafia (2002) but those are exceptions even for their time and a couple years older too which meant a lot in those times regarding technology. The games I mentioned already pretty much used real life photographs for textures but had to compress them because no commercial PC could have run those games otherwise.
