I got the PsOne with FF7 and RE3 Christmas 2000 so I’ll go with that. (Already had n64, Genesis, GBC and a hand me down SNES) Might have already had a Dreamcast as well

Grew up with the original, bought the PSOne last year. They're both great for different reasons. Biggest strength of the PSOne was its portability though sadly the screens and battery packs are expensive and hard to find now.

i've had the same SCPH-1001 since 2002. it's the oldest system in my possession. it still works but i think the drive is finally unfortunately going
i want to fix it. i put a GDEmu in my old, long-dead Dreamcast and it's much better than dealing with GD-ROMs. with PS1 i think i'd rather keep it as it is and play all my real games

I have a 5502 that is showing it's age, so if i feel like playing on hardware i whip out my PSOne.

Usually i emulate on my Steam Deck though.

I replaced my stock PS1 laser assembly with a clone (?) I bought from China on eBay for under $10 AUD several years ago, and it works perfectly. Have a look inside your PS1 and just type the laser assembly model name/number into eBay.

It's amazing how Sony made the dual analog controller the standard even though there was barely any game that required it and most people had no idea what the point of the second analog was.

It has RGB. At the very least, 5501 does.

>>10090560
if you want to use it normally psone is the best overall, but it lacks the serial port for system link (which almost nobody used but was kinda cool in a few games). If you get the psone make sure it come with the external power supply.
Older models have internal power supply, you need a standard 2-conductor ac cable.
5501 is the most compatible with aftermarket devices.
Other models are inferior but not that much. I wouldn't pay too much extra for a particular model.

dual analog is a little bit bigger and they sticks dont click in like buttons. The only major difference is obviously the lack of vibration.

If you don't want the vibration, it's better. Concave analog sticks don't slide around like the rubber DS ones, plus it's lighter.

I liked this though, no proprietary cables and you could easily route to your home stereo system. I wish more systems did that up until hdmi became the standard. It would be nice if you could use the same interchangeable connectors for all systems instead of needing to pay more for cords that only work with 1 system from that generation.

Right so you can just buy a Japanese dual analog and not miss out on vibration. What about the comfy? Does anyone like it better? I see one anon loves it
