Was 1990 a good year for retro gaming?

Ataris were pretty cheap then. I bet you could have gotten an Odyssey 2 pretty cheap as well.
So, was probably good for retro gaming.

Every year between 1985 and 2005 was a good year for retro gaming. I don't need to buy a new GPU for my PC because I have 20 years of amazing games to emulate (or simply play if it's a PC game)

This, I can’t wait to keep downsizing my computer over the years as I need less hardware to play the same shit

Emulators didn't exist yet, so no.

1990 was a good year, but I don't see enough people praising 1988. It was the best year in the 80's for video games.

>> No.10075928

I was still playing Coleco Vision, having lots of fun with Donkey Kong, DK Jr and LadyBug.

Retro games sucked in 1990, it was the modern games that were good then.

they existed, but nobody could afford to own them. they're called "In Circuit Emulators". cost as much as a car but made development of anything for whatever cpu very fast with full featured debugger, code stepping, memory inspection etc.etc.

games that came out at the tail end of the 80s got very good as hardware evolved. from 1980 to 1990 it was tech evolution on steroids. when you look at the last 10 years, we've gone nowhere. kids have been born and played minecraft, grow up and still playing minecraft while experiencing no great evolution in technology. the stagnant generation.

Besides 2003, this was the Golden Age of Gaming (I would also throw in 2006. 2007 was the beginning of the Dark Age)
