2/11 Gun Smoke
Here the art change a lot. One is more cartoon like and the other more mature.

3/11 RBI
These two have the same art, but one is a license cartridge while the other is not.

4/11 Super Mario Bros
One has a oval seal and the license number. The other one has a round seal with no license number.

5/11 Super Mario Bros/Duck Hunt
The "Nintendo" logo is in a different position plus one has a white stripe.

6/11 Super Mario Bros/Duck Hunt/World Class Meet
First two Mario is wearing red overalls. But the bars over the names are different. And on the 3rd game Mario is wearing white overalls.

7/11 Super Mario Bros 2
Just a seal, no seal difference.

8/11 Super Mario Bros 3
The word "Bros" changes place. And the one in the left is a reprint. Noted by the "-1" after the license number.

Just one copy is enough for me.

I don't have the games with me right now, but I discovered that the American and Canadian versions of Super Mario World have a different shade of blue in background on the cover. One is very light and one is dark.

No metroid?

I've never been big on collecting variants, since I mostly buy games to play them, but I sure do love seeing them/seeing people's variant collections. Go on!

One has an oval seal, the other a round seal, and the 3rd is the gray cartridge.

The legend of Zelda has a total of 7 USA variants

10/11 Zelda 2
Gold and gray cartridge.

Here are my variants. Some of them. I have variant GBPs as well, but that isn't what we are talking bout is it.

LA Kings logo and no logo
WGH has 3 variants. Two with black shirts and two with white shirts.

NES-ZY-USA-2
NES-ZY-USA-3

Since I live in the USA I only collect USA variants. Because the majority on the games have USA, Europe, and Japan Variants. So that would be just too expensive and time consuming for me.

If people have variants here I would like to see them too.

I like the right one more. Own the cartoony one. I love Gun Smoke it's my nostalgia favorite NES game. Apparently hardly anybody has played it except for me. It had an arcade cabinet but I've never seen one. Would be tempted to buy on the spot if I did.

Variants are cool. Gotta acquire em all!

Has to be pretty significant for me to go out of my way to collect a variant, like Mike Tyson's Punch-Out and just Punch-Out, or gold and gray Zelda carts.

I won't go out of my way to get a variant. However if one ends up in my possession as a gift or through a lot deal I'll keep it. Someone gave me a box of nes games last week and it had a grey cart Zelda II that I'm going to hold onto.

Tengen Tetris isn't a variant of Nintendo Tetris though, it's a completely different version from a different publisher.

the left one is the one which YOU HAVE AT FORCE to hold the reset button before turning the console OFF?

i dont know what caused that, but i remember owning a copy when i was a kid, it was gold, but the screen actually have a disclaimer in red about doing that holding the reset button thingy, BUT, never did that when i was a kid and not only it saved my tracks but also KEEP THEM.

My current copy from time has the black screen trap of dead when even if i insert the cartridge properly and its clean and the pins on teh NES are fine, the game would not load at first, and sometimes it will ERASE you savings, EVEN IF YOU DO THE RESET BUTTON THING!, DO NOT IGNORE!!.

Man, I might start collecting variants. I would just have to keep track of which ones I do and don't have.

I own a copy of Pac-Man for the Game Gear that has "Namco" written on the cart instead of "Sega". There is a variant that has "Sega" written on it, as well as a third reprint by Majesco.

I think the Namco variant is the rarest but I don't know which cart came first

Whats the story on the different colors? Most variants are in the seal... I hardly ever see complete color variants.. Is there a reason for this one?

Mike Tyson's Punch-Out and Punch-Out have two variants each.
MTPO Have a license number on label and a no license number on label.
PO Have the regular and the "Classic Series" cartridge.

well in SMB1 Mario's fire suit looks like the one on the right, in later Mario games the fire suit looks more like the left/middle except for the hat. Mario's uniform changes quite a lot in the original games.

I think I've got at least a dozen Atari Combat cartridges because I'll notice some tiny subtle difference between them. The text position is a little off, the ® is slightly smaller, that line seems some infinitesimal bit longer...
