It only takes like a few items over the course of the whole level to get you fat and the game will have dozens of food items drop from POWs and the environment. A lot of times it's easier to just bite the bullet than trying to be so careful to not spawn them and skirt around them until they despawn while also grabbing weapons/bombs and dodging enemy fire.

I have the no miss clear you fucking retard, it just kills the pacing of the game, and similar to many of the other changes, it just feels like gimmicky change for the sake of change.

I think X is best viewed as an arrange only after you have totally mastered 2. But it's also an easier game so that doesn't really make sense either. The main advantage of X is the ability to use Fixed Vulcan and rebind Slug Attack (allowing jump+shoot finally) in the AES version. There are a couple sections in X I like better as they spice up some sections of 2 that are fairly one note, but most changes are a downgrade or just baffling.

It also increases weapon damage so it helps to clear mechanized obstacles much faster.
That's inifintely better than getting homing-snowmaned X times in a row by yetis in later games.

I only have / play X for PS1 and the first level and boss changes are such a bummer. Playing 2 at the arcade and just no deathing that single level for the first time and getting the hadoken pow was so hype as a kid.

Fat mechanic is hilarious. It’s definitely just a fuck you to good players. I only remember 1 reversion potion for it; unlike the mummy debuff where they throw a bunch of human potions at you. I bet it was a big buff at some point in dev but got nerfed for the lulz. Last level of either game is fucking insane though so I still haven’t 1ccd. rip.
