Also, any games with a similar ambient, minimal OST?

I believe one of the main things preventing a patch is the large amount of vertical text in the game, as well as some text jumbling that occurs when you read minds, probably the only solution would be to find a way to insert subtitles into the game.

I finished it last night and frankly I think the message of the game went over my head
I understand that Yang was a serial murderer/rapist in the dream that became disgusted by his actions so he split himself into multiple beings and then tried to have one-half of himself overcome the new half so he could achieve freedom or whatever...but what WAS the dream? what was the opening sequence with the guy with his head stuck in the giant machine?

>> No.10037736

Yang is the guy in the machine. The dream is this world that the machine, called Garage, created for Yang to confront and overcome his past by exploring his psyche. Yang in the dream split into Shen and the player, with Shen representing Yang's past and the player representing his potential future where he overcomes his past, hence the fight with Shen.

>> No.10037827

>>10037736
so is Yang irl an awful person, or was Shen just a representation of some of his evil sub-thoughts everyone has? and Garage was basically just a way for him to clean his subconscious? what about the 4 girls, I know the 3 prostitutes mentioned being a part of his past but was that ever discussed further? and Juice/Psyche, what exactly was she? I know Juice was a robot that Shen had manipulated and molested/practically destroyed and turned into a milk machine, but doesn't her having a Shadow mean she was a representation of someone Yang knew irl?

Quads of truth. I loved Obsidian too.

Pic related is pretty surreal and creepy. There's no puzzles, it's basically like a walking simulator, but if you like these types of games and can get it running then give it a play.

Are there any website where you can just download one of these old games and play it without messing around in DOSBOX or a VM? I've done it the latter way before but I just don't feel like it anymore.

>> No.10041945

>>10041881
I have no idea where to download the ones that I posted besides Obsidian, I will admit I haven't even played those games myself. But there's a website called Zomb's Lair that has a bunch of similar interesting old games that are packaged in an a way that launches them automatically without any hassle.

Deux Ex Machina on the old timer computers like Spectrum and Commodore 64 is pure 80's british mindfuckery. It came with a cassette tape that you were to listen to while playing the game so it was the first game with record quality soundtrack that you should absolutely listen to even if you don't care for the game.
