Weren't the DKC (or Super Donkey Kong in Japan) games among the best selling SFC games in Japan? Hell, there's Japanese gamers who collect NES and SNES carts. People all over the world are fascinated by the output of other cultures.

Westaboos are super fascinated with like. King of the hill, Futurama, the Simpsons. Breaking bad. That type of show. In terms of video games the western games they like are like Skyrim, Doom, Duke Nukem, GTA. Breaking Bad and KoTH are like THE big shows for those people over there. But for the most part how we think of Japanese media having all kinds of niche references? OK. American media has way more niche stuff. A lot of things are entirely unwatchable or unplayable because of it. Games like CoD just don’t make sense and are simply not enjoyable. The Japanese KoTH fan base is very niche because the show simply doesn’t make sense. The dubs for that in particular are almost nonsense. So there’s lots of debate if the sub or dub is better for western media. Generally people prefer the sub because they feel the original intent is better preserved. But I promise you the reasons they find the show funny are way different and don’t make any sense. But if you want to know westaboo games. It’s very casual popular things.

Simpsons is one of the few shows where the jokes are universal and it’s very easy to dub in a way that makes sense. There’s lots of localization with it overall. There’s also a big obsession with Texas and cowboys. There’s guys who based their whole personality around spaghetti western stuff! It’s a common trope for this topic because cowboy culture is so interesting to them. In general cowboy culture is probably the biggest thing people like about American culture.

Sorry to double post. But people do love Mickey Mouse. Disney is like an absolute dream to people, it’s hard for them to imagine. There’s definitely a fascination with Disney theme parks in general. And you see some of it in Japanese theme parks which are must smaller. Japanese theme parks are very small by comparison to any popular American theme park and are more about gift shops and food.

Ahhhhhh I haven’t seen that! You can see a lot of shows poking fun at these people though. There’s a show Fresh off the Block that I think shows it accurately. It’s just a weird thought in peoples head about being a man and a cowboy. There’s silly misconceptions everywhere about all cultures. But trust me, people everywhere think crazy things about Americans. You can get American stew at a lot of places around the world. Usually it’s spaghetti, spam, hot dogs and corn in a chicken broth. People really like it and it is as disgusting as it sounds! There’s also big misconceptions about what a Salad is. A lot of companies that seek to or do employ more Americans also offer lunch. They have salad a lot but the salad is usually some kind of chips, Mayo with a meat. I can’t say people usually associate lettuce or greens with a salad. Usually it’s a mixture of just things like a strange savory dish or like a potato salad.

This is my last post about “westaboo” and then I’m gone. I had to find this again but there is conventions for western animation and big group’s of people interested in it. Much like anime in the US. There’s even anime all about western culture. JoJo is a really popular one. It’s basically written by a person like this and gives a good picture of what people think. There’s also a lot of games. Showa is a good recent one.I won’t spam anymore but I hope this helped

You have no idea what you're talking about. I have a Japanese friend on STEAM who almost exclusively plays shooters, and he doesn't do so because he "doesn't enjoy them".

These days, I think they all play Minecraft, so that's a pretty popular western game in Japan. I think for nostalgia, you may want to look towards Korea since the older generation really loved Blizzard games like Starcraft.
