instead of pandering to a handful mentally ill weebs (that did not play Mischief Makers when it came out) by not using my WIFE Marina's most iconic voice (including fucking "SHAKE SHAKE") last time, they made references to Goemon's most well-known appearances to the actual audience of this hack: on the N64 (which is period-accurate as well, since other characters in the original Smash Bros. also most prominently featured their N64 game(s)).

Besides this, I have been wanting the Mystical Ninja himself in Smash Bros., more than any other character by far, ever since Brawl hype. The only thing that might top this update is Bond.

I'll explain it to you: It (and ALL the lines the actual audience (ie, not Japanese players and not people who played this and Smash Bros. only on emulators decades later) of this hack is familiar with) shouldn't be accessed via "a code", considering it's her most iconic line.

Based on that, why even have a button combo to access that line at all? It's not the original Japanese, either, so it doesn't matter if Marina's fanbase were looking forward to it or not. It only matters that a group that doesn't give a shit about Mischief Makers is satisfied.

By the way, I still really like the way Marina was utilized by the devs in this game: I think they did a great job. I also like her Japanese voice. Nah, Fray did a separate mod apart from SR's intended "to-do" list of characters that included Slippy as a fun slap together custom character.

They're put in as extra choices, via input characters, like Giga Bowser, Polygons, Metal/Giant DK, and Super Sonic, who are fully ultilized in the Remix 1P mode as boss characters/special opponents.

Anything else is for fun/variety, plus there was another quota that needed to be fulfilled as Peppy and Slippy were confirmed as officially cut characters via Fox's costumes.
The fact we even got a better deal is pretty cool.

The consensus seemed to be that the English lines/grunts had typical 90s hokeyness and the JP lines fit the pace/energy better, but there's other characters like Sonic that have their shittier English voice too so it doesn't really hold up. Like with "Adventure Sonic" being the main model for Sonic and "Classic/Jam" being the alt, the English voice for Marina should have been the main with the JP one as an alt (since it is mainly a cool curiosity for most of us, rather than essential to Marina's character).
