Were there any differences and revisions?

Acceptable emulation of the games does not add anything to them. Kind of disappointing because before they emulated the games they made new versions of the games like SMB3, SMB4 and especially SMB2 the definitive version of the game and the gba version

Changes to flickering.

Some revisions.

The 25th on SMB question boxes.

The Donkey Kong Nes arcade edition with the added missing levels from the arcade.

Mario's Super Picross got one puzzle replaced because it was a reference to Tetris, a game Nintendo no longer had the rights to.

Excitebike, Mach Rider and Wrecking Crew nes games had their famicom saving thing added.

There were a lot of complaints about games looking too dim/dark. I sort of noticed it when I played SMB3 on my 3DS.

OOT had the censored revision.

They actually emulated Famicom Data Recorder?

They used the latest revisions for every VC release I think

>> No.10018815

>>10018795
There were actually some revisions which hadn't been seen anywhere else, yet they existed in Nintendo's internal product lists from the 90s, meaning that they were completed back then but never actually released.

did it piss anyone else off how N64 VC didn't support rumble when it was impossible to play N64 games without a controller that had rumble

>> No.10018856

>>10018849
Yes, but Wii Classic Controller did not have rumble and supported N64.

Yes. Shinobi had its Marilyn Monroe artwork removed and also had Spider-Man re-colored.
Shadow Dancer had the Trade Towers merged on the title screen to make one building too.

Wii Remote does not rumble violently enough to transfer vibrations over a foot long cord.

They used revision from 2003 for Zelda 1.

Some translation, imports, and dialouge changes.

Some had built in color changes.

From MarioWiki

Super Mario Advance 4: Super Mario Bros. 3
The Virtual Console version has all 38 e-Reader levels built-in the game, including the ones that were previously only released in Japan, and they can be accessed from the Data Select screen. Originally, this required the use of the Nintendo e-Reader to scan Level Cards, which is incompatible with the Wii U. Also, the original game could only support up to 32 levels at a time. This is also the first time these levels are released in Europe and Oceania, as the Nintendo e-Reader was never released there.

Some more changes

There were also patches and emulation differences. SMB 25TH rom had patched copyright years that doesn't come bye thevrom itself.

>> No.10019193

They didn't do accounts and sold them as a per console thing, so if your console broke you'd ether have to pay for Nintendos repairs, hope that someone would help you in customer support which wasn't guaranteed or repurchase everything.

Then they charged you per a game if you wanted to transfer them to the Wii U and asked you to buy it again if you wanted to play it on the 3DS. The people that allowed this are such cunts and I hope more people turned to emulation as a result.

Fuck em for it, digital ownership is so one sided it's a joke and makes piracy practically a necessity if you want to actually own the things you purchase

StarTropics removed all mention of the Yo-Yo and called it a "star" instead, and its sequel changed the Tetrads to "blocks". Both were because the terms were copyrighted.

SMB3
>In the original game, the explosion of a Bob-omb, collecting the "?" Orb dropped by Boom-Boom, or the wand dropped by a Koopaling will cause the screen to flash a rainbow of colors. In the Virtual Console release, this was changed so that the screen merely turns bright yellow for a few seconds. This mirrors changes made in Advance 4 and Super Mario World for similar reasons.

And after they finally set up a consistent account system, they ditch VC and lock old games behind a yearly subscription. Modern Nintendo has mastered the science of extracting insane amounts of cash from people for a pathetic amount of effort. God, when they announce a successor to the Switch with no backward compatibility and no classic games all over again, the salt and the cope will be delicious.

Why make any effort when your fanbase is willing to throw money at you because of some insane sentimental attachment. Same shit with Pokemon fans paying full price for low effort garbage every year. They could put twice as much effort and budget but it wouldn't make them any more money. Modern Nintendo is all about making consumers believe they're their friends and family and making sure they have an emotional attachment, not about the games themselves

I'm playing earthbound again because I liked it when I was a kid and it's a cozy game for me. So I'm doing the redux rom hack to change it up a bit. That autistic mother fucker intentionally INCLUDED THE ANTI SEIZURE SHIT. I'm having a good time, but I'm bitching about this minor issue here just for the thread. I simply can't even imagine why someone would do that. I really do wonder if Nintendo spared a single person a seizure with these changes

They'd have to be braindead retarded to do that. They're still making high-profile games SMBW, and stuff like Mario Kart and Animal Crossing still sell like crack.

>> No.10019442

>>10019349
Did you download a prepatched rom? I remember that for a SMB3 you could patch either an original ROM or the Wii VC ROM and both would work so you could choose

They did that with the Wii U not being able to play Gamecube games, EXCEPT that if you hack your Wii U, you can actually play GC games on it. They're absolutely retarded because they could have sold GC games on the e-shop since the console can run them natively through the Wii hardware that's inside. Their argument was that there's no memory card slot but the current methods simply make a virtual memory card on the system's storage so it can be done. Instead of making money the smart way Nintendo just makes the most retarded decisions ever

The Pokemon Gen1 and Gen2 games were modded to use the 3DS's local wireless signal as a replacement for the Game Link Cable. The Surfing Pikachu minigame in Yellow and catching Celebi in Crystal are also unlocked and fully playable with no need for an event.

The Wii Virtual Console release of Pokemon Snap also tweaks the print station functionality slightly, so you can use it to save photos to your SD card.
