They changed the layout of the scene for the PSP version entirely.
Originally Delita delivers the iconic line as he looks back towards Agrias who was trying to stop him. The PSP version has him direct the line towards the princess herself since Agrias wasn't even in the same vicinity as him until shortly after the line was spoken.
https://youtu.be/ghYPElytjpY?t=13
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DpQX9vxjjIM
Therefore, there was a significant change in this line's intent between versions which, in my opinion, causes the more curt "blame yourself or god" to seem much more convincing than if he'd said the more flowery line to Agrias before running off.
The opposite holds true for the PSP version, where it seems to make considerably more sense for him to say "Tis your birth and faith that wrong you, not I."
tl;dr neither version is incorrect, and it's entirely down to the precise context of the given version of the game.

I thought about 2k, but catbox surely would not appreciate me uploading ~800 MBs (fixed movie files!) in 4 parts, plus Westwood's main involvement are the FMVs and ability to use the license in there.
And Emperor is an EA game. It is good, it is better in terms of gameplay (but not FMVs, of course) than 2k, if only barely, but it is still not a Westwood game.

Is the turn back on enemies thing real? I tried it out the first time I heard about it and the enemies most definitely attacked me.
No locational damage and animation made the game lose its potential cult status, surely it doesn't take a genius to figure out a good gun game needs to have SATISFYING SHOOTING... or at least copy Time Crisis or any of the other good lightgun games around.

Ironically enough this supposed 'lightgun' game controls best with a regular controller, even if the US version didn't remove guncon support the controls are awkward and if you have a less than ideal display like a flat CRT you have to crank brightness to the max for the lightgun to register being on-screen half the time.

It definitely works on a lot of things, perhaps not on hordes of enemies

>Ironically enough this supposed 'lightgun' game controls best with a regular controller

I've tried both, with a pad the movement is good and the shooting sucks, with a gun the shooting is good and the movement sucks.

I was enjoying PC games then and not wanting much. Those consoles were pretty shit after a few years. I had a PS3. The PC ports kept the same nasty pop-in. Buttbuttin's Creed had some extra content on PC. I really never felt abandoned. Being an open platform, there's never really much a vacuum. But now there's only one Star Wars game and it's a Skinner box. I started playing War Thunder a few years ago because it's the closest thing to a recent Star Wars game.

Hmm, no. I played Relic's games, The Witcher, Total War, Paradox games, X3, STALKER, Street Fighter 4 (admittedly this didn't get the second expansion on PC but later got that in the third and fourth expansion), Defense Grid, Unreal Tournament 2k4, Mass Effect, Roller Coaster Tycoon, Dead Space, Crysis, Fear, Sins of a Solar Empire, Mount and Blade, and probably some other things I'm forgetting on top of Diablo 2 and Valve games.

I'm also an idort who tends to own most popular systems, so long as it's not complete shit like the Ouya.

It's true that Steam helped PC gaming immensely but really it just concentrated things, it didn't make new types of PC games that didn't exist before or some shit.

So I'm a bit late on this news, but I was looking through upcoming games and saw a PC port of Glover of all things. Which I thought was weird because it's not exactly what I would consider a legendary game but it's a decent game I used to play a lot so I was intrigued. Turns out there's a company called Piko Interactive that's been licensing a bunch of forgotten retro games and porting them to PC or in some cases actually giving them physical releases on actual Genesis, Game Boy, SNES cartridges, and so on. (Apparently they even bought the rights to LJN games, which is an insane thing to do, but whatever.)

The cool part to me is that on top of ports of existing games, they're releasing previously unreleased and/or untranslated retro games. This includes a finished version of Glover 2, over 20 years later. I assume that would be a relevant discussion topic here since it's an N64 game that was almost completed but never saw a release, but if not, I figure it's still worth a thread to talk about all these interesting retro games getting new life after all this time.

I THINK he means people focus their seething over a singular thing or several, in games that otherwise aren't a bid deal and then the game just vanishes from the public eye. Cyberpunk '77 comes to mind, but I'd attribute that game to FoTM syndrome. It's fucking INSANE how much pointless drama that game got outside of it being a buggy mess and in the end it sold like shit. All that useless bitching over trite shit and the game ended up being a disaster anyway.

No, not really. If he had staked his life on it, he would have been dead. The fact that some overeager janitor actually deleted the thread out of sheer pressure from whiny posters and not any actual commitment to the truth is truly mindblowing. Really, I'd love for people to have to bet something real when they accuse a thread of being advertising so they could really feel the consequences when they turned out to be wrong.

Very late answer. To make it short: They actually never intended to make it public, so it seems. Revo, the maintainer of sm64-decomp, posted on this thread as you can see and said the following: "This codebase is an absolute treasure for preservation sake." That heavily implies that he never intended to make the source public at all. What a douchebag. I'm glad that some courageous knight in the discord leaked it to the world. That way we prevented an uprise of some elitist class of SM64 Hackers. A credo in the ROM Hacking community that always should be followed: If you find something, SHARE it. Especially a huge project like this rightfully deserved to be public.

Good hardware for the time. But VERY expensive at launch. But absolute fuckshit bumload of crap games.
Good games were usually arcade ports. For example, it had the best port of samurai showdown with all characters and original music. And it was capable of pulling it. Also gave us Need for Speed. If only there was some solid strategy with games it could have had a chance, I think, but they thought that they could sell hardware just because it was more hardwarerer.

There's very little mixture of FMV, basically just very short cutscenes that are shown at some points on the map, and they don't interrupt the gameplay iirc. PC port isn't even a port it's like a different game with the same theme and redone graphics, and it's actually pretty bad just runs smoother.

Original blew my mind a little bit when I played it as a kid. Before this I only played FPS games that were split into levels, and here you had one huge map to explore, you could go through different routes, etc.

First: Holy crap, Galin, I remember you. Can you believe it's been over 20 years? My character was AG-Crunch (of the Allied Giants), also known as House Crunch. Spent quite a bit of my time in the square trading rare items and dominated the richest player list. I was there right up to the end and made the jump to Everquest with everyone else. Reading this thread really brings back memories. Thanks for that.

Second: Good news/bad news here.

Good news: The good news is that a copy of the server definitely existed in the wild. At least a couple different people had it working around in mid-late 1999. I know this because I played on them. The important thing to know is that the version was very early, around 1.0 or 1.1, and not the 1.5 version that the game ended on. Being so early, it had a ton of bugs.

Bad news: I can only confirm that it existed and that individuals not associated with TEN have successfully had it running at one point. However, that was 20 years ago, so odds are that those files are buried in sands of history.

Nobody would like to see a working DSO server come online more than me. However, being a realist, we'd probably have better luck starting a petition to ask Wizards of the Coast to do a remake of it. If they saw enough people were interested and willing to pay for it, it would be hard for them to turn down. "Hey Wizards, you like money, right? We have some and will give it to you if you make this. Your call."

I was (am?) the head programmer for the DSO Age of Heroes when we were working on it. We did have a server running, a client and multiple users. Character creation and combat were started.

It was a lot of fun, but in the end the main issues with the game were poor management and my own programming inexperience. Luckily I now have 10+ years of programming experience and management now so if there is a huge push to resurrect this--I'm in. Even just getting the original DSO: Crimson Sands server back up would be an interesting challenge ;)

I know I have the source code for one of the games and possibly DSO! So, if people want to see this happen back head over to:
http://dso.paulofthewest.com..
and post on the forums. If enough people are interested, I'd love to see this return.

AG-Crunch, fellow half giant templar kefka.

I just got done playing "Wake of the Ravager" and it made me want to reach out to the DSO veterans. And you are the only one I found.

The incredible scope, level design, use of verticality and 3D space, seamless first person aiming, the list goes one
PS1 games still felt like developers were fumbling around trying to learn 3D. It's amazing how Nintendo got everything so right.

I always wanted Andy's training and first meeting of Mai to be animated properly. Would love to see:

>Andy dealing with Jeff's death, and going a different path then Terry
>somehow finding his way to Japan as a young boy, which must have been difficult
>arriving in Japan, alone and the culture shock
>how he came to find the Shiranui clan
>Goes into training under the Shiranui
>Mai begins teaching him japanese and they grow closer
>Drama of Andy leaving without telling her to fight Geese

A simple but effective story to tell

Is there a way to easily extract sprites from SNES roms? The coomer in me needs some full spritesheets from Hissatsu Pachinko Collection 3 (必殺パチンココレクション3) but I can't seem to learn how to extract data and no one online has extracted full spritesheets of all the coomer content in this game.
