I would consider Shinobi III a platformer.
It has a lot of areas where for the most part you just run forward and deal with enemies, but then, so does the original Super Mario Bros.

There's only two power-ups in the level, so his choice was to try and get an extra life (he had to have 20 lives as well、and he only had 57 coins) as well as both power-ups, or start over with the pre-decided route they used during the live challenge too. Given the time left till the show started, it was a tough but good call.

*bro hug* Me too...me too. I got it on my Wii and played for my sister (she doesn't play games but enjoy watching me play for some reason). But no matter what I just couldn't get past that. I always died somewhere before the last coin. I tried for over an hour but still couldn't do it. I felt so shamed at myself.
