That is true in so much the idea is to be at top speed as much as possible (need for speed has historically been simcade so acceleration is more important) like most arcade racers are. The best part of midnight club is how angel studios designed the routes so in practice for everything but the truly free form races it flows smoothly meanin hard braking just isn't a thing in the games. Good handbrake control goes a long way in midnight club.
