How do I get into Ultima IV?
I started the game, had no idea where to go, died, spawned in Lord British's castle, and I still have no idea where to go.

Yep, make sure you download all of the documents the game has on gog, you should at least skim them a little, it's all really helpful. Check out the reference card first, it explains the controls and basics. Google "utlima patcher" for a simple program that has all the essential fan-patches and addons.

Use this

And here's what the world actually looks like in-game.

Somewhat spoilery, because you're supposed to find the dungeons and shrines on your own.

It's a good starter. It's gonna seem hella primitive, with an interface that shows you such a small window on the world, and the line-art first-person perspective on the dungeons.

It's from an era where you actually needed to read the manual before you played the game, and you kept a pen&paper by the computer to write down hints and clues you will need to use later.
