Didn't even know about software renderer option before. It totally wasn't it, though - vid_renderer 1 did nothing, so I must be in OpenGL mode.
Also whoa, setting sector light mode to "Standard" from "Doom" in OpenGL preferences brought things to another end of specter. But this is better than solid darkness.
