Pretty much, not actually unwinnable but extremely frustrating as you'll probably won't be able to win random battles anymore.

In this remaster the Maze of Memories changed that, since floors have fixed BR enemy batches, but it would be extremely tedious nonetheless, in the SNES version, good fucking luck.

I'm currently on new game+, seems like you just get your items back, and they're given to you gradually too.

Sure, the only thing Leon and Gerard can't do is sparking anything more than starter waza, they're a unique special type, type14 iirc, mainly because they're very good characters stat wise and they didn't want them to become more powerful than they already are.

Once you'll get to play as the last emperor/empress, you'll see why they neutered their spark tables so much.

Yeah they're pretty costly, especially some of the older ones, well at least they're literal bibles and they're very good books, most of the times they're worth the money you'll spend of them.
Also, the Romancing SaGa Time Weaver artbook was uploaded on Sadpanda some time ago and the quality is pretty good
