Stick to it. Did you do Emelia's story line because I remember she starts off in the Despair prison, or did you take up a rune quest on someone else? That prison can be a bit tough because of everything you have to navigate and also the laser trip wire maze later on if you are doing it with someone who isn't Emelia.

Yes you should stick with it, it is in my top two JRPG's trailing the Romancing SaGa remake. The races and how unique they are from one another, how combos work, learning skills during battle, the way you can go almost anywhere from the git go with no hand holding, and excellent music.

There are a bunch of factors I believe, like moves that are labeled a certain sort of move and you need another skill that is labeled something else but can combo well to the previous skill to get a combo. I also find that speed is important as well so an enemy doesn't cut into a combo. Obviously this is something you HAVE to experiment, or if you want to get anal you can use a FAQ, but then that is defeating the purpose of a SaGa game.

I personally like Kenji Ito much more, especially when it came to battle music because it gave a true sense of urgency. Listening to his pieces in SaGa 2, Romancing SaGa 1, 2, and 3, and SaGa Frontier just shows that he is excellent in making battle compositions.

The funny thing about SaGa Frontier 2 is that usually if a person isn't a SaGa fan it is probably their favorite or one of their favorites in the series (either SF2 or Final Fantasy Legend III).
